Jannik Sinner sheds light on F1 Doctor’s importance for brilliant victories over Djokovic, Holger Rune in ATP Finals

Jannik Sinner’s form has not gone unnoticed this season. The Italian became the only player this season to defeat world No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz and world No. 3 Daniil Medvedev twice. He also became the first Italian to win 60 games in a year and has lifted the Indian Wells Masters, China Open, and Vienna Open this season. In the ATP Finals in Turin, Sinner ended Novak Djokovic’s 19-match winning streak.

Furthermore, Jannik Sinner has admitted that veteran Formula 1 Doctor Riccardo Ceccarelli has helped him improve his winning mentality since he joined his extended coaching staff in 2022.

Jannik Sinner credits F1 Dr. Riccardo Ceccarelli

Riccardo Ceccarelli is a sports doctor who has been training the minds of the best Formula 1 drivers for over 30 years and has been part of the extended Sinner staff since 2020. Janmik Sinner believes that the doctor has influenced his game mentality. This season, the 21-year-old became the first player to be unbeaten against the top 10 in the last seven games.

Jannik Sinner has extended his form at the ATP Finals commanding Green Group after shockingly defeating Novak Djokovic, Holger Rune, and Stefanos Tsitsipas to become the first Italian to qualify for the semifinals of the Notto ATP Finals.

Jannik Sinner admitted to Turin Press that his work with Doctor Ricardo Ceccarelli, who is known for his work with Formula 1 racers, has helped improve his mentality.

“It is very different from having a coach or a sports psychologist, because in those cases you have a conversation with that person and try to find solutions. What I do is different because we dedicate ourselves to solving exercises on a computer and we calculate the performance of my brain when it comes to finding solutions to the problems I encounter in these exercises.”

“Repetition makes me automate the processes & my brain is more efficient & works better under pressure and in extreme situations. It helps me a lot because it makes me have to understand why things happen & I can analyze them in detail. We have been working with this methodology for a few years &I feel that it is working very well. I have improved significantly in this mental aspect,” he added.

Meanwhile, Dr. Riccardo Ceccarelli’s style of training is popularly known as ‘Formula Medicine,’ which is designed to improve the mentality of people who have to meet high demands in their profession, sport, etc. Two days ago, Ceccarelli revealed that he wants Jannik Sinner to continue to grow better.

“From this point of view, I rarely have a boy as mature and determined as him, despite his young age. If this path that we are taking together bears fruit, the credit goes largely to him because he has the will to ask himself questions to achieve his goals.”
