The Boston Celtics are one of the strongest teams in the league right now. They have a talented starting lineup, but there is no denying that more talent is always good.
Celtics star Jayson Tatum recently shared his honest views on the deadline trade move done by the Celtics’ general manager, Brad Stevens. Brad Stevens is determined to secure a ticket to the playoffs, and Tatum appreciated the GM’s decisions and displayed trust in his abilities.
Tatum credits Stevens: GM’s acumen in identifying team needs
The face of the Celtics franchise, Jayson Tatum, who recently opened up about handling the ups and lows of life as a high-profile NBA player, shared his views on the general manager of the Celtics.
“He’s the GM, he has a check on the team’s temperature. If he sees something that we might need or a change that could be helpful, that is his job. Our job is to go out there and compete,” said Tatum.
He applauded the GM, Brad Stevens and credited him for doing his job fairly well. Brad has been on a roll in the past few years, especially during the trade deals where he has brought in great talents. Tatum highlighted that Stevens, as a GM, knows the ins and outs of his team and can recognize the team’s needs. He called that his “job,” while also stating that his job is to go out on the court and compete.
Celtics Bolster Frontcourt Depth with Xavier Tillman Sr. Trade
Brad Stevens has done a great job as the general manager of a franchise and it is understandable why Jayson Tatum was all praise for him. He has been able to pull some great deals in the past, such as acquiring Derrick White and Kristaps Porzingis for cut-rate deals. Tatum was right in his remark about Stevens being able to recognize what the team needs. He acquired Xavier Till Sr. most recently before the NBA trade deadline.
This is a great deal, as Tillman would be a spectacular addition to the existing Celtics squad and would bolster their frontcourt depth. This would provide the Celtics’ head coach with more versatility and help Jayson Tatum and other stars in the franchise initiate more organized and successful plays. Ultimately, this trade would increase the chances of the Celtics making it to the NBA playoffs this season and possibly winning the championship as well.
