According to renowned journalist Michael Benson, Jermall Charlo is not set to fight Canelo Alvarez. Charlo disclosed to Benson that he hasn’t communicated with Al Haymon since his last bout against José Benavidez Jr. Charlo emphasized, “I haven’t even talked to Al Haymon since I last fought. So everybody that keeps talking about, ‘You’re about to fight Canelo,’ – ain’t no confirmation.” So according to Charlo, there is no confirmation that he is fighting Canelo.

Now the situation is clearer. Canelo Alvarez didn’t have any new opponents in mind when he expressed a desire to fight only American fighters. Previously, Canelo had dismissed all rumors about facing knockout artist Jaime Munguía. It’s now evident that Alvarez’s next opponent will either be Terence Crawford or David Benavidez. As per a talkSport report, after Canelo Alvarez’s post-fight victory over Jermell Charlo (brother of Jermall Charlo), the WBA champion claimed he’d fight anyone, stating, “I don’t f care.” However, when Terence Crawford expressed interest, Canelo shifted focus, stating, “Right now, the fight with Terence Crawford doesn’t make sense.” Nevertheless, he didn’t entirely shut down the rumors, asserting, “I just won; let me enjoy this.”
