Jets’ $112.5 million Aaron Rodgers brushes with injury after $9.5 million house purchase

With the 32 NFL teams starting their training camp, updates about the sessions are hitting headlines rather frequently. While the Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes stole the limelight in the Chiefs practice after making a phenomenal behind-the-back pass, the New York Jets’ new starter Aaron Rodgers scared the fans after going down to one knee during the team’s practice on Saturday.

The Jets earlier decided to keep all their starters out of the field in the preseason opener game against the Cleveland Browns due to injury concerns, but almost couldn’t avoid the misfortune. However, amid Rodgers’ on-field battles, his recent purchase of an expensive million mansion also grabbed the headlines.

Aaron Rodgers’ injury scare highlights importance of his health for Jets

During the Jets Saturday’s non-padded workout in Florham Park, Jermaine Johnson’s unintentional collision with Rodgers‘ pinky toe became a severe concern for the team’s head coach Robert Saleh. Aaron had to go down to one knee for a while and he was replaced by the team’s backup quarterback Zach Wilson, albeit the 39-year-old star later returned for the final team period after a few minutes.

Though the injury was not severe, Saleh voiced some reminders for rushers while continuing the training camp and urged them to avoid any potential physical contact with the quarterbacks given their importance on the field,

“We do it all the time. Stay off the quarterback. Respect the quarterback. Every player knows how important those quarterbacks are, but stay up, stay off them. It goes without saying, but you’re always going to try to make it a point of emphasis.”

Rodgers’ recent mansion purchase raises eyebrows

Mary Jacob of the New York Post earlier revealed the news of A-Rod’s newly bought mansion on Thursday, August 3, though too many additional details were not found. According to property records via The Daily Mail, the signal-caller purchased the massive house at the end of June for $9,500,000.

The four-time MVP’s new home is reportedly situated in the Montclair area of New Jersey on over 2 acres of land. It has eight bedrooms and 10 bathrooms alongside a media room, wine cellar, home office, gym, and three-car garage with a charging station. Besides this new property, he also owns a $28 million Malibu pad along with homes in California, Tennessee, and Texas.

However, Rodgers is not imposing any burden on his new team to accompany his luxury lifestyle. Like Tom Brady and Patrick Mahomes, the 10-time Pro-Bowler has always provided financial flexibility to his respective teams and even decreased his salary by $35 million over the next two seasons to let the Jets pay his other teammates a good salary as well.
