Jets’ Aaron Rodgers sets the record straight on mid-December return plans: “I never said anything definitive”

Quite like updates about matches and performances of the players, the update about the injury of the New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has become a common scenario in the NFL lately. Either the former Green Bay Packers star shares insight about his recovery or someone from the NFL, either an analyst, his teammates, or other players, speak about his potential return.

As the Jets are having a tumultuous year, the speculation about Rodgers’ return to the action will only grow stronger unless the QB shares an exact timeline. Though the veteran is yet to share information about that, he cleared a rumor about his mid-December return.

Rodgers clarifies timetable for injury comeback

Days ago Melissa Stark of NBC Sports shocked the NFL community by giving a surprise comeback timeline for Rodgers. She revealed the signal-caller is eyeing a mid-December return date when the Jets would be in a possible playoff push. During his regular appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”, the veteran cleared the speculation saying the mid-December comeback statement was told by his doctor to the reporter.

“I never said anything definitive about coming back in mid-December & nothing has changed as far as my timeline..Melissa talked about having a conversation with my doctor..”

Days ago, the four-time MVP boldly claimed he is “ahead of schedule” to return from the injury. Though the QB didn’t share the exact timeline for his comeback, he shed light on the plan to return to the field in “a few fortnights”- a time period of two weeks, which was projected to be in the Jets’ match against the Commanders on Dec. 24.

Meanwhile, according to Melissa’s earlier report, the 10-time Pro Bowler’s return would be in Gang Green’s match against the Houston Texans on Dec. 10 or against the Miami Dolphins on Dec. 17. However, he revealed his target would be to stay healthy first.

“We gotta be in the mix & I gotta be healthy & I definitely still wanna come back.”

After tearing his Achilles, the dual-threat has undergone a “speed bridge” surgery days ago to boost his rehabilitation process. This modern treatment doesn’t ensure a speedy return, but the vet has been in great shape lately as he has been seen walking without crutches and even throwing balls just a few days after the season-ending injury.

Aaron Rodgers shows up with an eye patch

The former Green Bay Packers linebacker AJ Hawk is a co-host on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” alongside McAfee and Rodgers. In his recent appearance on this show, he wore dark glasses along with a patch over his right eye.

Hawk sustained a scary eye injury at the hands of his youngest son, Axel. The LB said his son threw his arm up and his thumb went 6 inches deep into his eyeball, which caused the third cornea of his eye to get damaged, via Sportskeeda. Rodgers, hence, decided to express his “solidarity”, and wore an eye patch over his eye at the beginning of the interview, and told his former teammates from the Packers, “Just for you, buddy”.

The Packers LB revealed how he could barely see following the gruesome injury. The Jets QB tried to bring humor saying injuries at home have always been a mystery while proposing that blaming that on kids is like “low-hanging fruit”.

“Injuries that happen at the house there’s always some mystery..Blaming on the kids seems like real low-hanging fruit.”

Rodgers was drafted by the Packers in 2005, and Hawk started his NFL journey with the team as well in 2006. The QB played 18 seasons with the Packers and the LB, who is the all-time leading tackler of the franchise, had been a teammate for nine seasons. It’s not surprising that the duo shares a brotherly bond out of the football world as well.
