Jets Zach Wilson collides with Robert Saleh in sideline mishap after second-half snub

The New York Jets had no immediate option but to rely on their young QB Zach Wilson following Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury. As A-Rod has been preparing the quarterback alongside him in the training camp, fans thought the young star would be able to be a franchise QB of the team in the long run.

However, despite having a good defense, the Jets offense, led by Wilson, has been losing matches. The losing streak has urged the fans and even former NFL players to take digs at the young dual-threat, but the team didn’t bench him until Week 11. Apart from the Jets’ humiliating 32-6 loss to the Buffalo Bills, the sideline collision between the team’s head coach Robert Saleh, and Wilson has also been a focal point of discussion.

Zach Wilson’s sideline collision with Saleh

Early in the third quarter of the Jets vs Bills, the latter one was leading 22-6 when a sideline collision happened during the game. After being hit by the Bills linebacker Tyrel Dodson just near the sideline, Zach Wilson scrambled and proceeded out of bounds, leading him to collide with Saleh. The HC tried to catch his QB to save him from a big hit but they both eventually ended up on the ground.

Fortunately, both Saleh and Wilson didn’t sustain any physical blow following the brutal hit. However, the Jets couldn’t save them from the blow of another loss. After winning three consecutive games, and defeating the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs, they have now lost three games on the trot. Many NFL fans were furious enough to remark that Saleh deserved the hit for trusting too much in the young QB.

Jets made a QB change during the second half vs Bills

In the Jets’ Week 10 match against the Las Vegas Raiders, Wilson threw for 263 yards along with one interception on 23-of-39 passing. His performance has been lackluster throughout the season, except for the week 8 match when he recorded 17-of-36 pass attempts for 240 yards with one touchdown for zero interceptions.

The Jets fans have been urging to change the signal-caller, but Saleh showcased unwavering support to the signal-caller. Days ago, he said he knew there had been “yearning for more” but he felt the QB had played too well to get benched.

However, the HC couldn’t stay committed to the young star in Week 11 as the QB was replaced by veteran Tim Boyle late in the third quarter.

Before getting benched, Zach completed only seven of his 15 pass attempts on the day and was sacked five times along with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. Following the match, the signal-caller said that he understood the decision “got to be made” due to the constant failure on the offensive side.

“When it’s consecutive weeks of just doing nothing on offense, we can sit here and say last week we moved the ball, but we’re not scoring. Essentially it comes down, you got to score points. So, when things aren’t getting done, changes got to be made, and I understand that”, he said via New York Jets.

Meanwhile, though Saleh used to declare Wilson as the Jets’ QB1 boldly up until Week 11, he didn’t name the starter for their upcoming match. The veteran said the team had a plan to make a decision early next week. Gang Green has a short week before playing against the AFC East leader Miami Dolphins in Week 12.
