The Modern Day Maharaja, Jinder Mahal, made his return to WWE on the first RAW episode of 2024, Day 1. After the show, he called out The Rock for a match, who also returned to Day 1 and issued a challenge to the WWE Undisputed Champion, Roman Reigns.
Today, Tony Khan, the AEW President, made a bold statement on his official X account, criticizing the booking of Jinder Mahal in a WWE world heavyweight championship match against Seth Rollins on next week’s Monday night RAW.
Tony Khan criticizes WWE for booking Jinder Mahal in world title match
In the tweet, Khan pointed out that Mahal has not won a single match in the company since last year. Khan also mentioned Hook, an amateur rising star in AEW who called out the AEW World Champion Samoa Joe, after winning the title from MJF at the World’s End event.
Khan added, “A double standard: @730hook 28-1 career record, on winning streak calls out the Champ, a logical challenge sparks online outrage Jinder has literally lost every single match he’s in for the past year, immediately gets title shot, where is the rage #AEWDynamite TOMORROW on TBS”.
Following this, the official USA network mocked Khan by replying to a tweet from an online wrestling analyst, Raj Giri, asking for the cage match ratings for the match between Seth Rollins and Jinder Mahal happened during their rival in NXT for the championship.
Khan also replied to the USA network by saying, “A moral victory for USA is one win more than their World Title challenger Jinder Mahal has in the past 364 days.”
Khan’s tweets have sparked a lot of reactions from wrestling fans and they clearly showcase the ongoing rivalry between WWE and AEW.
Jinder Mahal reacts to Tony Khan’s latest Twitter rant
After Tony Khan’s tweet went viral, the former WWE Champion himself became involved in the rant and replied to Khan. Jinder Mahal replied, “Who tf is Hook? WATCH MONDAY NIGHT RAW ON @USANETWORK MONDAY 8PM EST!!”.
Fans were surprised by the reply from Mahal, as he rarely shows up on social media, and this was his first reply to a tweet in more than a year.
Mahal was a former WWE champion and has also won the WWE United States Championship once. He had a bad run in WWE last year, not winning a single match in 2023. His last WWE win was on June 3, 2022, when he defeated Humberto in a Smack Down episode.
With this reply to Khan, Mahal is looking forward to win his next match against Seth Rollins and win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to remain as the Modern day Maharaja.
