Erling Haaland is currently one of the biggest names in the sport of soccer. The Norwegian striker has been one of the best players in the past few years, and many clubs have been interested in him since. Despite so much interest in him from club, he moved to Manchester City, where he has found much success.
And despite his successful spell there so far, it seems an exit is already being speculated. Many clubs like Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in the player, but the latter’s President has now made a statement on it.
Joan Laporta talks about Erling Haaland transfer
President Joan Laporta has recently spoken a lot about his club’s transfer strategy. He spoke about keeping a number of existing players in his team, but also on the potential arrival of new stars. Barcelona have been linked with Erling Haaland for a while now, but Laporta believes it will not happen.
He has ruled out any big transfers, including that of Haaland, “We don’t need any big signing. There will be movements but I don’t anticipate big ones, just team players.”

Laporta also said that he believes a big signing like Haaland could also destroy the club’s existing structure and harmony: “Our priority is to trust the team we have right now, we don’t want to sign players who could distort our harmony.” This statement comes after he made a similar comment about the potential disadvantages the possible transfer of Kylian Mbappe could have for rivals Real Madrid.
Erling Haaland to replace Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona?
Barcelona have long been interested in Erling Haaland from his Borussia Dortmund days. They have lacked a lethal striker up front since Luis Suarez left in 2020. Robert Lewandowski managed to fill that void last season, helping them to win the La Liga title. But he has not been the same this season, as his underperformance and lack of goals have led them to lose a lot of ground in the league title race.
A striker like Erling Haaland would definitely solve Barcelona’s goal problems. With a creative midfielder behind him, he could score a lot of goals. He could also be interested in move to one of biggest soccer clubs in the world as his next step. But any such transfer will not be easy this summer.
Barcelona have well-documented financial problems which have impacted their transfer strategy. They cannot pay the big money City would ask for the player, nor can they afford the huge wages Haaland would ask. Therefore, it is quite impossible for Erling Haaland to join the club now unless there is a miracle by the board. But there could be a possibility of it happening in the near future if Real Madrid do not get to him first.
