John Cena emotionally addresses WWE retirement, saying that he hasn’t won a televised singles match in 2002 days

John Cena is undoubtedly one of the best wrestlers to ever exist in the history of WWE. He has been a 16-time WWE champion in his whole career and has defeated several big opponents over the years. He is still competing in the promotion due to his passion for wrestling, despite having the status of a Hollywood star.

However, the legend has revealed a piece of shocking information to fans on the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Cena revealed that he last had the taste of a singles match victory in 2,002 days.

John Cena emotionally addresses WWE retirement

On the latest episode of WWE SmackDown, John Cena made an appearance in the arena and teased his retirement during the promo. Despite being the top star on the roster, he still felt sad during the promo while discussing his retirement.

The leader of Cenation mentioned that it’s been a pretty long time since he had a victory in a singles match, and he also noted that his last victory was in 2018.

“Last week I talked about Roman Reigns’ streak. 1,138 days as champion. Today, I found out I have a streak of my own. 2,002 days—that’s a long time, right? It’s been exactly 2,002 days since I last won a televised singles match. I want you to think about that for a second. 2,002 days. My last win was in 2018,” said John Cena.

He then discussed his possible retirement. He said, “I’ve been talking a whole lot about retiring,’ he said. ‘I just think it’s time that we all face facts. Come on, guys! Fact is it’s been a long time since I had a win.”

But soon after that, Cena cheered up the audience who were rooting for him in the arena during his promo, as they believed in him. He got excited and showed enthusiasm for fighting a new opponent.

“Dammit, I believe in me, I believe in you, I believe in us! I believe in the beauty that is all this madness. And I believe that I can still go. I believe that I can still bring it.” said John Cena.

John Cena sees 2002 days without a televised singles win

WWE superstar John Cena made an appearance on the latest episode of SmackDown. During the segment, he discussed the historic championship reign of Roman Reigns and compared it to his milestone of not getting the victory for exactly 2,002 days. This made the fans who were chanting his name moments ago into silent statues.

John Cena had his last televised win five years ago (in 2018) at the opening match of the Greatest Royal Rumble PLE in Saudi Arabia. Triple H was Cena’s opponent in that match. It was his last singles match victory.

At the climax of that promo, Cena declared an open challenge for anyone confident enough to take the beating he was going to give, and Solo Sikoa appeared in the arena. This gives a subtle hint of them facing off against each other at WWE Crown Jewel 2023. Considering the rivalry that they have currently, although the match is still not official, it will be nice to see John Cena start his new winning streak in Saudi Arabia.
