John Cena posts cryptic message on IG
Recently, John Cena posted an image of an hourglass that was almost empty, which sparked speculation among his fans that he might be hinting at his retirement from wrestling. This is not the first time, Cena is tricking the WWE fans with his post.
Before his match against Austin Theory at Wrestlemania 39, Cena posted a tweet saying, “Last night was the first time I entered the arena and had the thought that it might be the last time. I’ll never be able to put into words how much I love the #WWEUniverse”
The WWE Universe thought Cena would retire, but he came back at WWE Smackdown on October 20 and had a feud with The Bloodline. Cena also had a match with Solo Sikoa at the Crown Jewel 2023, but lost the match.
Cena frequently has a habit of posting cryptic images on his Instagram account without any captions or explanations. He posts random images leaving his followers to interpret them as their wish. Whatever the meaning behind Cena’s post, it has certainly generated a lot of buzz and curiosity among his followers.
Speculating John Cena’s potential Royal Rumble appearance
In October 2023, WWE announced John Cena’s appearance for a full two months of SmackDown shows. Fans initially anticipated Cena continuing his feud with the Bloodline until Wrestlemania 40. However, the feud concluded at Crown Jewel. Now, after his recent posts and interviews, fans are in doubt about Cena’s participation in the Royal Rumble.
The last time Cena appeared in a Royal Rumble match was in 2018. Entering as the 20th participant, he lasted until the end, reaching the final four alongside Finn Balor, Roman Reigns, and Shinsuke Nakamura. Cena eliminated Finn Balor but was subsequently eliminated by Shinsuke Nakamura, who went on to win the match.
He has won the Royal Rumble match twice, in 2008 and 2013, and has been the runner-up twice, in 2005 and 2010. Cena has competed in 15 Royal Rumble matches, including eight singles matches and seven Rumble matches.
Some fans have speculated that Cena might be interested in facing Gunther at WrestleMania 40, scheduled for April 7. If WWE is planning the match between Gunther and Cena, starting their feud at the 30 man Royal Rumble match will be the perfect spot to start the rival.
