As the season’s end draws near, excitement among fans and club management to bring home the Lombardi Trophy has skyrocketed. While the high-heated situation prompted the Carolina Panthers fans to raise their voice for the team’s losing streak, the Las Vegas Raiders showcased a deep level of concern, being the first team to sack their head coach for his upsetting coaching tenure.
The decision to fire Jos McDaniels did not come overnight, and it was recently unveiled with the former head coach’s stern warning, while responding to criticism regarding his New England Patriots coaching career.
Josh McDaniels’ response unveiled after firing from Raiders
Only a few days before McDaniel’s final game with the Raiders, the players and the coaches were spotted in a meeting, per BroBible. During the team meeting, it was evident that the 47-year-old individual underwent a significant transformation, appearing to lose his composure and exhibit an abrupt shift from his previous self.
Prior to his sacking, as it was the last chance for the players and coaches to raise their voices on his failed attempts to advance the Raiders in playoffs, they used all their tactics to repudiate his legacy in Las Vegas.
In offering his perspective, McDaniels seemed to be making an effort to comply with the players’ desires. The HC, however, ended his final meeting disappointed because the outcome of the discussion did not turn out as planned.
Following the meeting, he let his frustration know to Antonio Pierce spoke, saying “Don’t ever talk about the Patriots like that” as he brought up McDaniel’s New England Patriots chapter.
The recently dismissed Raiders coach was an offensive coordinator for the Patriots for 14 of his 24 seasons there before beginning his head coaching career.
Raiders fire McDaniels in unexpected team shake-up
The 1-3 start was enough for the Raiders fans to lose their hope on the team’s head coach. They also urged Davis to give a thought to the coach’s tenure in Las Vegas, raising their voice to fire McDaniels. In spite of the constant criticism, the owner of the team kept himself as the fanboy of McDaniels, saving his face from the aggravated fans.
While the fans lost their enthusiasm to raise their voice against the head coach, suddenly the Raiders stunned the NFL community by firing McDaniels and general manager David Ziegler, signaling a terrible shakeup within the organization. The owner made his side clear following the bold moves in the middle of the season.
“After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave. I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best,” Davis said in a statement.
Prior to leaving Davis’s team, the former Raiders’ coach went 6-11 in 2022 and under his guidance, the team was 3-5 this season, leaving Davis to face financial strains.
Linebacker coach Antonio Pierce is set to become the team’s interim head coach and assistant GM Champ Kelly has shouldered Ziegler’s role. Besides the moves, the LA team also sacked offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi.
Under the new head coach and general manager, the Raiders team already robbed a convincing 30-6 win over the New York Giants.
Do you believe that under this new head coach-general manager era, the team will finally glimpse the light of a new dawn, buoyed by the prospect of winning the Super Bowl?
