Jude Bellingham is living a dream by playing for Real Madrid, arguably the biggest club in the world right now. The young Englishman’s rise to the summit of world football is quite astonishing. Three years ago, he was playing in an English second-tier league with Birmingham City, which was a clear pathway for him to make it to the top.
Now aged 20 and playing for the Los Blancos, Bellingham has developed into an all-round player, becoming the club’s vital goalscorer in all competitions. Although the goals haven’t dried up for Jude Bellingham, he has highlighted some of the cons of playing for a club as big as Real Madrid.
Jude Bellingham sheds light on his life in Madrid
Playing for Real Madrid comes with its perks and downsides. The Los Blancos are by all means the biggest football club in the world and also the most successful, going by the number of trophies won and their large fan base across the globe.
Some players can’t even cope with the pressure that comes with playing for the club. The likes of Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale, and Luka Jovic didn’t last long at the club because they couldn’t handle the pressure. Even great players like Cristiano Ronaldo got booed when they performed below par in front of the Bernabeu crowd.
“You always know that Real Madrid is the biggest club in the world,” Jude Bellingham said when asked about the size of the club following his $100 million move from Borussia Dortmund.
“But then it’s just different when you actually get to experience it. Especially at the Bernabeu with the new set-up and how it looks and everything, it’s just unbelievable. It’s like playing at the Colosseum. You feel like a gladiator. It’s just so cool,” he continued.
“You just don’t understand how big the club is. There isn’t anywhere you can go where people don’t recognize you. Sometimes it’s a good thing, and sometimes it’s a bad thing,” the former Birmingham City youngster added.
Bellingham got mobbed by fans while with mother
Playing for Real Madrid may come with a lot of pressure, but Jude Bellingham has proven he can handle it. The 20-year-old has made 24 goal contributions in 26 appearances for the Spanish giants this season, which has earned him quite some popularity among the Real Madrid faithful.
Jude Bellingham witnessed what it meant to be a famous Real Madrid player in December when he went Christmas shopping with his mom. The Real Madrid youngster got mobbed by fans on the street in Madrid as he waited for traffic lights.
Surprisingly, he kept his cool while taking photos with the fans and signing autographs for them.
Bellingham has endeared himself with the club’s fans and showed he could do more than just goals and assists when he showed a class act by giving a ball boy his blanket during a match on a cold night in Madrid.
