Jude Bellingham rejected Erling Haaland reunion despite marathon discussion with Pep Guardiola

Jude Bellingham is currently one of the world’s most talented players, starting the new season for new club Real Madrid in a big way. In just 10 games, the midfielder has already scored 10 goals and provided 3 assists, with the last player to do so being the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo himself.

Real Madrid spent around 130 million euros to bring in the talented youngster from Borussia Dortmund this summer. Seeing his performances, the price tag is justified but it leads many to wonder why other clubs didn’t go for him. The answer is that they did, but Jude only had one plan.

Bellingham reportedly rejected Manchester City move

According to GOAL, Jude Bellingham had one other serious contender for his signature other than Real Madrid. That club is Manchester City, which also boasts Erling Haaland, a former teammate of Bellingham’s from Borussia Dortmund. In fact, City were ready to give a higher salary to the player and a higher fee than Madrid in order to beat back the Spanish club.

Spanish media outlet Cadena Ser further reported that City, in a bid to bring the midfielder, put up manager Pep Guardiola to the task of convincing Jude. The manager and player had a three-hour conversation on the phone, with Guardiola trying to tell the Englishman that the Premier League would be better for him. He even tried to say that the City team was more developing than Real Madrid, with more chances of future success.

Ultimately, despite the more lucrative offer from City, including a possible reunion with Haaland and with Pep himself trying to convince him, Jude snubbed them. He had already decided from the beginning to go to Real Madrid due to their long history and prestige. The city boss respected his decision and wished him luck.

Jude Bellingham shows off ice cold finish

With a brilliant start at Madrid, Jude Bellingham has already made himself a fan favorite. But it is not just Madrid where he is performing, but also for his country, England. Currently, he is back in the England squad for their international break. Already, the team faced Australia in a friendly, winning 1-0 thanks to an Ollie Watkins goal.

While Bellingham didn’t participate in the friendly match, he was seen in the training ground, showing off his moves. In a video shared by the team’s social media platforms, the midfielder was seen calmly dribbling other players and scoring goals like it was nothing. He could be seen combining with Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford as well to score a goal.

It is clear that Jude Bellingham is evolving from a mere midfielder and is focusing on becoming more of a goal threat. He has the chance to show his new development with his national team when they take on Italy as part of their Euro qualification round on Wednesday.
