Edelman, who had a crush on Brady on their first meeting, repeatedly presented himself as a fanboy of TB12. However, he once could not resist stealing some belongings of the signal-caller, and the reason behind this will certainly shock you.
Julian Edelman once stole Tom Brady’s game-worn cleats and jerseys for an odd reason
After spending 20 seasons in New England, Brady started his new chapter with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. During a recent appearance on the Games With Names podcast, Edleman revealed he stole some of the things of the seven-time Super Bowl champion before he left for Tampa Bay.
“When Tom left New England I went to his locker, I stole like three pairs of his cleats that he wore in games. I was taking like, I took a couple of jerseys. I think I may have taken his deodorant.”
The WR shared the reasons behind stealing his ex-teammate’s cleats, jerseys, and deodorant saying the veteran used to smell good, even when they were on the practice field. Besides these, he also admitted to stealing shots of TB12’s cologne.
“He used to have his smell goods and I would always go over and steal a little shot of his perfume or cologne. Tom Brady always smells good. Tom always smells good. It’s weird. I’m like, bro, how are you smelling good? We’re on practice.”
It should not be a surprising matter, as barely anyone can escape California’s charm. Even NBA Hall of Famer Charles Barkley once shared how he felt embarrassed while making eye contact with the ex-NFL star.
Julian Edelman and Tom Brady still have a friendship?
Brady and Edelman won three Lombardi trophies (Super Bowl XLIX, LI, and LIII) together donning Patriots jerseys. Following the three-time NFL MVP’s departure, their friendship might have faded, although the duo forged their beloved friendship.
Fans speculated on a torn-out relationship between the numbers #11 and #12 of the Patriots when the former revealed on “Inside the NFL” in 2022 that they had “a little beef”. However, he later cleared up the rumor and urged his pal to reach out soon, and Tom Terrific also responded by promising to send him a car package of Brady merchandise.

Keeping aside the fun banter, the duo maintained their strong relationship over the years. Edelman was seen chuckling around a football on the beach with Rob Gronkowski, Danny Amendola, and others during the QB’s retirement party. They recently buzzed the fans by doing a Lay’s Potato Chips commercial with Dan Marino, Randy Moss, Emmitt Smith, and Jerry Rice to hype the 2023 NFL season.
