Justin Herbert injury: Chargers’ QB fractured finger on his left hand in NFL Week 4 win vs Raiders

The Los Angeles Chargers appeared to be out of shape this season after a difficult 0-2 start, but Justin Herbert’s squad soon found its footing, winning their second straight game and moving to 2-2. They most recently defeated the Los Angeles Raiders, 24-17, thanks to their standout players.

The Chargers, however, were affected the hardest by injuries prior to their Week 4 matchup. Unfortunately, their latest victory night came with a new challenge for the team with a painful addition of Herbert’s name on the injury list.

Chargers’ QB Justin Herbert fractured finger on his left hand vs Raiders

The LA Chargers‘ victory over the Raiders revealed the level of determination Justin Herbert used to harbor in his mind to lead his team in snatching a win. As NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed Herbert’s injury, fans were quick to acknowledge their QB’s determination and commitemnet.

During the game, Herbert sustained a horrific nail injury as well as a fractured finger on his non-throwing hand. However, he did not miss the game and he continued playing while wearing a glove and a splint on the injured finger.

Pressure was sky high on the shoulder of the quarterback as his team was forced to play the game without Derwin James Jr., Alohi Gilman, Austin Ekeler, and Joey Bosa.

Hence, displaying skills and composure that belied his physical state, Justin played as a one-man army during the whole game. He recorded 13-of-24 for 167 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. Additionally, he ran 12 times for 23 yards and two scores.

Is Justin Herbert going to play against Cowboys in NFL Week 6?

Herbert’s injury instantly raised questions about whether the Chargers have to play their Week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys without their key weapon for offense.

The Chargers are fortunate to have a bye in Week 5. It is therefore anticipated that none of Justin Herbery’s injuries will prevent him from playing in their Monday night encounter.

Herbert provided a ray of hope regarding his injuries after their victory over the Raiders. An excerpt from the British comedy “Monty Python and the Holy Grail” was used by the Chargers hero to introduce his injury news. Then he thanked the medical staff and trainers, saying that with their help, he was ultimately able to save him from suffering a serious injury.

“‘Tis but a scratch, just a flesh wound. Got it stuck in the helmet. Thankful for all the doctors and all of the trainers out there that helped me get through that.”

Justin’s presence on the field is crucial to the Chargers’ chances in any matchup and with him at the helm, the Chargers remain optimistic about their upcoming clash against the Cowboys.
