Kirk Cousins provides positive update on ACL injury recovery amid uncertain future at Vikings

Kirk Cousins of the Minnesota Vikings became the latest player to end the 2023 season with an injury, following in the footsteps of Aaron Rodgers of the New York Jets, who started the injury saga. With Rodgers feeling secure about his future with the Jets, the Vikings quarterback’s future in Minnesota remains uncertain.

Kirk was already the subject of trade rumors when the signal-caller gave a sudden update on his recovery.

Kirk Cousins provides injury update

Kirk Cousins recently provided fans with a promising update on the status of his Achilles to get his fans updated that he is not only spending quality time with his children but also working hard to get a strong comeback. In a series of videos shared on social media, Cousins can be seen running at game speed, executing precise throws on a tennis court, effectively testing the stability of his feet.

By expressing gratitude for the support he’s received during this challenging stage, Cousins shared the positive strides in his recovery, marking almost four months post-surgery.

“Almost 4 months in now…encouraged by the progress! Grateful for all the help around us,” he wrote, sharing the videos.

These videos are a piece of visual evidence for the Vikings and potential suitors that Cousins is surpassing recovery expectations.

In Week 8, while playing against the Green Bay Packers, the 35-year-old quarterback tore his Achilles tendon. Since then, he has been recovering. But before the setback ended his season, Cousins was on fire, completing nearly 70% of his pass attempts for 2331 yards and 18 touchdowns in the eight games he played.

Yardbarker indicated that if he had maintained this level of play, the Cousins could have finished the season with over 4000 passing yards and at least 30 touchdowns.

Kik Cousins Vikings’ future hangs in balance

The fate of Kirk Cousins with the Minnesota Vikings is uncertain as the team evaluates its choices for the upcoming football season. Amidst the looming uncertainty of a potential rebuild, the Vikings are at a crossroads, deliberating on whether to stick with Cousins and bet on his ability to bounce back from a knee injury and return to top form.

The timing of Cousins’ latest injury update adds more tension as the quarterback prepares to become a free agent in March. His health status becomes a pivotal storyline in the midst of the NFL Combine, where teams gather to scout prospects for the upcoming draft.

In his six-year stint with the Vikings, Cousins has put together a solid regular-season record of 50-37-1 and secured four Pro Bowl nods. However, his postseason difficulties, along with the team’s decline since their 2018 NFC title game appearance, have led the new management to reassess his position with the Vikings.

Amidst speculation about potential landing spots for Cousins, the Atlanta Falcons emerge as a prominent contender with favorable odds, according to DraftKings Network.

It will remain to be seen what the Vikings end up deciding for their vet quarterback.
