Kiss Me” trophy: revealing details of the unique Japanese GP prize at Suzuka

Japan is widely known for its uniqueness and experimentation with unusual combinations, starting from food to modern art and building designs. The beauty of the country cannot be explained in words, along with its tradition and modern style. Apart from its tradition, the divine nature of the country is another thing to talk about.

For the Formula One industry, an extremely important event called the Japanese Grand Prix 2023 would be held there earlier today. The race title sponsor, Lenovo, came up with an idea by bringing a little bit of modern technology to the F1 trophy for the event, which matches with Japan’s theme as well.

Japanese GP debuts unique “Kiss Me” trophy

This time in Japan, Lenovo has brought an extremely unique idea and commissioned the world-famous design studio Pininfarina of America to help bring it to life. The new trophy for the Japanese Grand Prix is called the “Kiss Me” Trophy.

The trophy provides some smart technology when the driver interacts with it, which motivated a lot of drivers as well.

It has a special “kiss me” area located on the outside, with indicator lights which will flash when it is picked up to guide drivers to the right spot. When the driver duly complies, and thanks to touch-sensitive micro-switch technology, it will bring the trophy alive in the colors of their national flag.

Lenovo’s executive creative director of corporate marketing, Philip Marchington, said: “As a leading technology company, we challenged ourselves to find a way to embed smarter technology into the trophies in a way that’s never been done before to elevate the podium experience.”

F1’s season of trophy demolition

The “Unbeatable Bulls” have once again regained their position with Max Verstappen’s and Sergio Perez’s 1-2 victory at Spa-Francorchamps with a standard team photo, followed by champagne celebrations in front of its garage in the pitlane.

The team members, including Christian Horner and Verstappen, tried to avoid a champagne shower, but at that instant the team’s pit board fell on top of its constructors’ trophy, destroying it in the process.

The incident left everyone with confusion and a lot of amusement from the sudden rush followed by laughter in the Red Bull Camp, with Verstappen blurting out “It’s broken again, the trophy is broken again!” to a smiling Horner.

It’s the second time in consecutive weeks Red Bull has failed to bring its silverware to Milton Keynes in one piece, after McLaren’s Lando Norris broke Verstappen’s Hungarian Grand Prix victory trophy during the Budapest podium celebrations.
