Klay Thompson repeats harrowing Jordan Poole feat in Warriors’ Play-in loss against Kings

Klay Thompson has led a successful career with the Golden State Warriors throughout his time in the league. His marvelous 3-pointers and brilliant scoring abilities have made him a crucial member among the other generational icons in the franchise. After many controversies regarding his role in the Dubs, Klay came through with his outstanding performances in the last couple of months. The 4-time champion was expected to display the same magic on Tuesday night against the Sacramento Kings, but much to everyone’s surprise, the 34-year-old failed to muster up anything.

Playing for 32 minutes at Golden 1 Center, Thompson managed to grab 4 rebounds and provide an assist but was unable to put up any points on the Warriors scoreboard. Even though he attempted 6 shots from the 3-point range and 10 from the field, the former 3-point contest winner failed to convert the shots into buckets.

With his poor shooting skills in the game, Klay repeated former Warriors guard Jordan Poole’s record against the Kings. Poole couldn’t shoot the 10 shots on target that he had attempted from the field last season against the same opponents on April 7. Although he bagged 8 points by shooting from the free throw line, Thompson had no such luck.

Klay probably played his last game with the Warriors and was spotted having an emotional moment on the court following their 118-94 play-in loss. His five-year contract with the franchise is coming to an end this year and there have been no attempts at contract extension. However, it seems Steve Kerr is yet to get over with Thompson.

Steve Kerr wants Klay Thompson back next season

Although the Warriors couldn’t match up with head coach Steve Kerr’s faith in the team and exited from the post-season tournament following a disappointing defeat, Kerr hasn’t given up on his Warriors, especially on Klay Thompson.

Acknowledging the enormous contribution that Klay made to the Dubs over the years, Kerr claimed, “We need Klay back, he still has good years left. I know I speak for everybody in the organization: we want him back. Obviously, there is business at hand, but what Klay has meant to this franchise, as good as he still is, we desperately want him back.”

Amid all the speculations going on about his future with the Warriors, Steve Kerr’s statement could be a glimmer of hope that Klay Thompson needs to be back on the track that he has created in the past thirteen years in the league.
