He has helped the Warriors to four NBA championships last 10 seasons and could be the added fuel to be unstoppable this new season. In regards to his contract extension situation with the Warriors, there are still indications that there will be a solution to it eventually.
While Klay’s statement could sound like a mere show of anger to other NBA teams, the 33 years old, could be seriously working hard to use this season as the last opportunity to secure long-term money in the NBA, as the Warriors would most likely want to see Klay, Curry, and Green retire with them.

The fact still remains that Klay Thompson and the Golden State Warriors aren’t close to signing a contract extension which has attracted a lot of discussions. Amid the recent reports of Klay’s contract extension experiencing slow attention, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski has given more information on the situation.
He said, “I’m told that there has been absolutely no progress on Klay Thompson extension in Golden State. They are both still apart on years and money, and there’s a very real possibility that Klay Thompson goes into free agency next summer without a deal.”
Thompson also addressed the situation of playing in 2023-2024 without a deal in his 13th season, which he assured wouldn’t be a distraction. He said, “It’s not going to be a thing.” As reported by Anthony Slater of The Athletic.
Klay Thompson is currently enjoying a 5-year contract of $189,903,600 with the Warriors, with an annual average salary of $37,980,720. In the current 2023 – 2024 season, the star will earn a base salary of $43,219,440 with a corresponding cap hit and a dead cap value of $43,219,440 as well.
