The New York Knicks head coach recently praised the Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, naming him a top-five player in the league. Butler played a crucial role for the Heat when they faced Thibodeau’s Knicks last season in the playoffs.
He also talked about Bam Adebayo and complimented him alongside Butler. While some people don’t think Butler’s talents are on the level of being called top five, Tom Thibodeau thinks differently.
Tom Thibodeau labels Butler a top-five player
The New York Knicks faced the Miami Heat on Friday in a game that can be called a rematch of the previous season’s playoff. In the previous season, Thibodeau’s Knicks were demolished in the series as Jimmy Butler’s Heat won six games in the entire series.
Tom Thibodeau, the head coach for the Knicks, spoke to Kristian Winfield from the New York Daily and complimented the Heats’ stars Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. Tom reportedly said, “Jimmy Butler is probably a top-five player in this league, and Bam (Adebayo) is right there beside him. He is having a monstrous season.”
Butler is not often mentioned as one of the top players in the league, as he doesn’t possess the same level of explosive jumping ability or shooting skills that are typically associated with those players. However, Tom appears to have a different perspective, likely due to Butler’s impressive performance in post-season games. He noticeably improves in post-season games, and Tom witnessed this firsthand during his matchup against the Heat last season.
Jimmy Butler expresses confidence after missing game-winning shot
In the Miami Heat vs New York Knicks match on Friday, the Heat’s star Jimmy Butler made a very big mistake by missing a game-winning shot. However, Butler remained confident and unaffected by the mistake he made that cost the Heat the game. Butler even reaffirmed that he would correct his mistake in the next matchup and make sure to win it for the team.
Jimmy told the reporter of Bally Sports Sun after the game, “I am always going to go for the win… We are gonna live with the result, But I guarantee I am making the next one.” Butler missed a crucial 3-pointer from the corner in the final moments of the game. Overall, he had a good game despite the defeat that brought the Heat’s record to 10-6 this regular season.
