Tommy Fury and KSI headlined MF & DAZN: X Series 10 – The Prime Card, and the fight was not without controversy. Despite Fury winning the boxing bout via majority decision, it was not without its share of controversy.
Logan Paul and Dillon Danis competed in the other main event which Paul won by DQ after Danis resorted to illegal moves. Interestingly the PPV reportedly sold somewhere around 1,300,000 which made it the biggest PPV of any combat sports event of the year.
Tommy Fury gets a verbal beating from KSI
Tommy Fury emerged victorious over KSI in their catchweight boxing bout with scorecards of 57–56, 57–56, 57–57. When the result was announced, the YouTuber, whose real name is Olajide Olayinka Williams “JJ” Olatunji, was visibly surprised. It’s essential to note that the bout lacked action for the majority of the fight and involved a significant amount of clinching.
In a recent YouTube video on his channel, KSI went off at Tommy Fury with verbal attacks. “It’s nice to know that my fight with Tommy Fury will be the biggest fight he will ever have in his life,” said the YouTuber mocking Fury and claiming that he is a bigger star than Fury.
“I mean, he claims to be at world level, but he’s out here trying to fight a 54-year-old Roy Jones Jr. It’s honestly so shameful,” KSI further trolled Fury for gunning a fight against a much older retired boxer.
Moreover, the YouTuber went on to mock Fury for not finishing him in their bout. “The fact that Tommy Fury was unable to knock out a YouTuber who has been boxing for about three years is actually hilarious,” said KSI. “Tommy has essentially been boxing all his life, and he struggled to even jab me, even with everything in his favor,” he further added.
“Tommy said that he was done with boxing if KSI could hang with me,” KSI recalled of a time when Fury made this statement. He had earlier urged Fury to retire on the ImPaulsive Podcast. “You needed the judges to save you; that’s pretty embarrassing, bro,” KSI further went off at Fury.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer concluded his trolling rant on Fury with a message to the fans saying, “Let’s keep reminding Tommy that he didn’t win that fight. Under his Instagram post, or Twitter post, or anything he posts online — and if you see him publicly, you could berate him as well and remind him.”
PBA rejected KSI’s Tommy Fury fight appeal
KSI and his team had filed an appeal to the PBA to turn the result of the YouTuber’s bout with Tommy Fury into a No Contest. The YouTuber had already received support from the fans and boxing community to do so as they felt he had done enough to secure the victory over Fury.
Unfortunately, the result has come back in favor of Tommy Fury as the PBA rejected the appeal and held the victory for Fury. “The PBA confirms that an independent review panel, consisting of two of the country’s leading King’s Counsel and a third lawyer, has determined that there are no grounds to overturn the @KSI vs. @tommytntfury fight result from October 14, 2023,” the official statement of the PBA read.
However, Team KSI has not left the case and they will be moving on with further actions. The YouTuber himself vented out his frustration and went on a rant on his recent YouTube video. “We will now move to the second of three possible stages of the appeal, as we continue to fight to have the decision of the bout rightly overturned,” said Team KSI of their plans after the setback from the PBA.
Before the bout with KSI, Fury was coming off a majority decision victory over another YouTuber turned boxer, Jake Paul. Interestingly, both the YouTubers are bitter rivals and Paul even congratulated Fury for the victory. Interestingly, Jake Paul’s older brother Logan is a close friend and business associate of KSI.
