Kylian Mbappe news: why is the forward invited by France President Emmanuel Macron for dinner at Elysee Palace?

The French superstar Kylian Mbappe is preparing for a new chapter in his club career as he enters the final months of his contract with the French champions, Paris Saint-Germain. The player has recently confirmed to club officials his decision to leave at the end of the season as a free agent.

Reportedly, the 25-year-old is close to signing a five-year deal with Real Madrid this summer, following endless speculation in recent seasons. PSG boss Luis Enrique has also subtly confirmed his move to Spain. Meanwhile, the Frenchman has received an invitation to dinner from the country’s president.

Why did France President invite Kylian Mbappe for dinner?

Kylian Mbappe has established himself as a national icon and hero through his World Cup heroics and contributions to the French national team. Amid talks of his move to Santiago Bernabeu, both French fans and PSG supporters likely wish for him to remain in the French capital with the Parisians.

According to Le Parisien, French President Emmanuel Macron has invited Kylian Mbappe, alongside PSG President Nasser Al Khelaifi, to join him at the Elysée Palace for a meal hosted in honor of the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani. This marks the Emir’s first visit to France since ascending to the throne in 2013.

The event is being organized to discuss geopolitical matters between the French President and the Emir of Qatar, predominantly related to the Israel-Hamas conflict, focusing on the release of hostages and achieving a ceasefire in the ongoing altercation.

Although it’s unrelated to sports, PSG players and their club owner will also be meeting with the Qatari high-profile delegation for dinner. Notably, it’s the second occasion when Mbappe has been invited to share the table with Macron and the head of the foreign state.

Does Macron influence Mbappe’s career path?

Kylian Mbappe is set to leave Parc des Princes in the summer after turning down substantial offers to renew his contract with the Parisians. Despite the club’s several keen attempts to extend his stay, offering lucrative wages and perks, he has snubbed them all.

The recent invitation from Emmanuel Macron to his residence might indicate that the French President intends to persuade the country’s top player to remain with the Ligue 1 giants, alongside the club president.

Previously, when Mbappe was on the verge of leaving the French capital in 2021, it was Macron who encouraged the 2018 World Cup winner to stay with the French champions. Subsequently, he signed an extension to commit his future to the Parisians.
