Every year, the NFL springs up a few surprise players on us whose performances are leaps and bounds ahead of what is expected of them. This year, the likes of CJ Stroud and Puca Nacua have been the ones getting all the limelight. However, there is one player who has quietly slipped under the radar.
Enter Kyren Williams, running back for the Los Angeles Rams, who has lit up the league with his brilliance all throughout the season. In fact, he has quietly achieved an accolade that no other player has been able to achieve since 1937.
Williams’ Resilience Shines as He Secures Top 3 Spot in Rushing
Kyren Williams has created a name for himself in the league this season as he plied his trade on the edges of the field for the Los Angeles Rams. While their season might have ended before the postseason, that hasn’t stopped Williams from earning an individual accolade that will surely send his value through the roof before the upcoming season.
Even after missing five games in the middle of the season, the 23-year-old has managed to achieve the unthinkable. Kyren Williams finished third this season on the list of the most rushing yards by any offensive player.
This accolade is a testament to the brilliance of the young running back and has only left us all to wonder about the kind of stats he would have achieved had he not missed the five games due to injury.
Comparing Kyren Williams to Bull Karcis in NFL History
Kyren Williams is surely one of the top talents going around in the NFL circuit, especially after ranking so high in rushing yards this season.
However, here’s the kicker, the only other player in NFL history to finish top 3 in rushing in a season they missed at least five games was Bull Karcis back in 1937 for the Pittsburgh Pirates, an outfit that is not even in existence anymore.
Williams has been on a rampage this season, creating havoc in opposition defenses for the Los Angeles Rams. In total, he has 15 touchdowns and 32 catches this season, making him one of the hottest properties for other teams next season, should the Rams want to trade him off for a more experienced RB.
