Kyrie Irving exposes unexpected motive behind Mavs move amid ex-NBA star’s high praise

Kyrie Irving’s move to the Dallas Mavericks is one of the biggest moves in NBA history. The move got everyone excited and have great expectations from the Mavs. Kyrie had been with the Nets for quite some time until his controversy with the COVID-19 vaccine surfaced. He missed a significant number of games in the 2021-22 season because of that.

Kyrie’s off court issues were very problematic for him and he ended up leaving the Nets after being suspended by them. He was traded to the Dallas Mavericks for Dorian Finney-Smith, Spencer Dinwiddie, a first-round pick in 2029 and multiple second-round picks. However, Kyrie recently revealed his other motive to join the Mavs.

Kyrie’s candid confession on Mavs trade

Kyrie Irving was interviewed on the Locked on Mavericks podcast with Issac Harris and Nick Angstadt where he candidly revealed the reason for which the Mavs could have signed him. He casually said, “I feel like I am one of the guys that guards Luka the best. That is probably why I am on this team.”

Irving chuckled and quickly added that he was joking and said that he loved playing jokes on the fans and being mischevious. Kyrie Irving’s mischevious display shows that the spirits are high in the Mavericks camp ahead of the start of the new NBA season. The Mavs failed to deliver last season and were unable to prove themselves in the playoffs.

But the fans still hope for Luka and Kyrie to link up and form an unstoppable duo that can lead the Mavs to the championship. On paper the young team led by Luka Doncic with a high caliber player like Kyrie Irving is one of the championship contenders next season and only time will tell if they will be able to secure the championship.

JR Smith crowns Kyrie Irving as best Scorer

The former Cavaliers player J.R. Smith named Kyrie Irving as the best scorer he has ever seen. He did so in an interview where he proclaimed Kyrie to be the best and complimented his skills. The now Mavericks star is known for his shooting and layup skills and is considered the best in the league when it comes to ball handling skills.

During the interview Smith said, “Kyrie the best scorer I have ever seen in my life. He can shoot left-handed, right-handed. He can shoot midrange, threes, spot-ups, off the dribble. He got the best handles we have ever seen.”

Kyrie and Smith, both played key roles during their time at the Cleveland Cavaliers. They both helped the Cavs make an insane comeback against the Dubs in their championship winning season. Smith has played alongside LeBron James and still named Kyrie as the best shooter, it is a very big praise for the now Mavericks star.
