LeBron James is arguably the biggest basketball player on the planet right now. His numerous achievements in the sport have solidified his place as a future Hall of Famer. The Lakers star is a natural leader and is frequently observed helping his teammates. He recently came to the defense of Anthony Davis against the critics after his poor performance.
Bron is also known to be fun-loving and humble, and these qualities largely keep him from committing serious fouls or getting suspended. However, there was one instance where his clean slate was marred by a suspension after an altercation with Isaiah Stewart.
LeBron James penalized for elbow incident
The Lakers and the Pistons faced each other on November 21, during which the Pistons managed to maintain the lead over the Lakers throughout the first half. The Lakers were struggling that season but had managed to bring LeBron James back after he had missed 8 games due to an abdominal strain.
With the return of King James, the Lakers had thought that the struggle would end. However, the Pistons were still able to maintain an eleven-point lead. The incident took place after he missed his second attempt from the free throw line. James and Isaiah crossed paths and James’ elbow hit Stewart under the eye cutting it open, which started bleeding.
Isaiah got worked up after the injury and went into beast mode where he started tackling James in a very aggressive manner. Both players were ejected from the game and were suspended later on. However, the Lakers went on to win that game after all the drama with a final score of 121-116.
How long was LeBron suspended for?
LeBron James had a flawless career where he hadn’t been suspended even once except in this one particular situation. This incident marred Bron’s clean slate, which he likely would have maintained until his retirement. Both Isaiah and James were suspended for the incident, with James receiving a one-game suspension on charges of a flagrant 2 foul against Isaiah Stewart.
Isaiah Stewart was suspended for two games on the grounds of escalating the on-court altercation by aggressively pursuing James. Stewart had to get eight stitches to fix the cut that he received from James as the two players clashed. LeBron displayed kindness when he attempted to contact Stewart after the game and apologized for the incident, as it was unintentional, according to Shams Charania.
