The trade rumors have started to surface quite early on in this new NBA season and the Los Angeles Lakers are the first ones among the rest of the teams to be looking for new talents. The Lakers have been struggling a bit since the season started and despite LeBron James’ continued efforts, they failed to secure the win in some matches.
With that in view, it’s understandable that the purple and gold will be active in signing a few talented stars. Among the ones who are rumored to be linked with a move to L.A. is the Chicago Bulls’ star Zach LaVine.
Lakers reportedly eye Zach LaVine
Jovan Buha of the Athletic has reported on the situation regarding the trade and has named a few players who may be linked to an L.A. move soon. Buha talked with Jason Timph of Hoops tonight about the rumors and said, “Alex Caruso is a Laker favorite, but Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan are two guys the Lakers have been interested in for several seasons now.… I am looking at maybe one of them as a target for L.A. come the trade deadline, or maybe sooner.”
The names Buha mentioned are quite hot in the NBA and it’s hard to choose one among them who would fit the Lakers most. It is no doubt that Caruso would be a great offensive boost to the team alongside LeBron James, but the impact of Zach LaVine or DeMar DeRozan could be bigger in the long run. If LaVine ends up moving to L.A. it would be a fire sake for the Bulls as they would not let him go easily.
Where is Lakers ranked in the West?
The Lakers did not have a great start to the season with them losing a few matches while also winning some. The longest winning streak they had this season was a three-game win streak that was broken by the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday. Despite LeBron James putting on some good show and breaking another record in that game, the Lakers still managed to lose it.
The ranking has fluctuated in the Western Conference after the season started and the Lakers are on a record of 4-5 with a one-game losing streak. They are currently ranked 8th in the Western Conference with the Denver Nuggets leading the chart. Following the Nuggets are the Mavs holding the second position. The third and fourth place is held by the Timberwolves and the Rockets. Meanwhile the fifth, sixth, and seventh positions are held by the Oklahoma City, the Kings, and the Warriors respectively.
