The Baltimore Ravens, led by Lamar Jackson, entered the week 10 campaign with a four-game winning streak after facing a 10-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers last month. They also secured their previous two home games by a combined 75-9 score.
After beating the Cleveland Browns 28-3 last month, the Ravens were eyeing to secure another win against their divisional rival. However, this time the Browns didn’t yield to them and instead gave the mighty squad a last-moment loss. Following the contest, Jackson delivered his take on losing the match despite having an advantage during the initial period of the game.
Lamar Jackson explains why the Ravens failed to defend a 14-point lead
In the week 10 match, the Ravens entered the stadium with a 97.1% probability of beating the Browns in the 4th. However, the Browns proved the probability wrong and smashed the mighty team. The Ravens had a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter but ended up with a two-point loss at the end. Jackson threw two interceptions in the loss, and his squad punted after only one first down on their final possession.
Following the match, the Ravens potential MVP candidate shed light on the team’s offensive struggle and the failure to keep up the lead. He credited the Browns’ offense for keeping his team’s offense off the field and said the day was for the rival squad.
“I mean we had glimpses of it, but you know we were on the sidelines. Those guys I believe were trying to keep us off the field…It’s football. Every Sunday is not going to be our day and today it wasn’t,” he said via Fox45 News.
The Ravens had the chance to solidify the top spot in the AFC North if they could win the match. Though they are still atop the division, they now stand just a half-game ahead of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Jackson went 13-for-23 for 223 yards along with a touchdown in the campaign while adding 41 yards for the running game.
Browns players celebrate in locker room after defeating Ravens
Lamar Jackson’s squad held a 24-9 lead in the third quarter, but the Browns geared up themselves later, which started with an offensive touchdown. The score cut the lead to 31-24, and later, a pick-six delivery from cornerback Greg Newsome II almost turned the match in the Browns’ favor.
With a game-winning 40-yard field goal from kicker Dustin Hopkins, the team ultimately secured a 33-31 victory over the Ravens, who boast one of the most formidable defenses in the league. Following such a win, a celebration was a must, and the whole Cleveland-based team erupted in joy by dancing in the locker room.
After giving a blowout 0-27 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in the last match, the Browns have now smashed the top team in their division and have emerged as a new threat this season. With the next match against the Pittsburgh Steelers, they would surely try to continue the winning streak and move up from the third spot in the AFC North. Do you think that they would be able to do that? Tell us in the comments.
