Lando Norris leaves Lewis Hamilton, George Russell in dust to claim major honour

Lando Norris’s capabilities on the track are widely acknowledged despite frequently finding himself overshadowed by the seemingly unstoppable Max Verstappen. His true potential became evident in his recent performances, as he finished in a better position than the likes of Lewis Hamilton.

Lando’s unwavering performance didn’t go unnoticed. Despite trailing behind Lewis Hamilton in the Drivers’ standings, the Brit snatched away a key award from his compatriots.

Lando Norris claims ‘British Driver of the Year’ award

McLaren’s Formula One sensation, Lando Norris, has clinched the prestigious Autosport 2023 British Competition Driver of the Year Award. The British-Belgian driver played a pivotal role in McLaren’s dominance by delivering commendable performances in his MCL60 for the fourth position in the constructors’ championship, overcoming a challenging start. In the individual standings, Norris secured a solid sixth position.

The award was mainly based on fan votes, emphasizing Norris’s popularity and the widespread recognition of his outstanding skills. Autosport readers crowned Norris as the British driver of the season, placing him ahead of fierce competitors such as Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, as well as Ferrari’s Le Mans-winning talent, James Calado.

Norris stated in a pre-recorded message that “I want to say a big fan to all the fans for voting for me.” 

“This has been my second time being able to accept this beautiful trophy. This first was during COVID in 2020, but I don’t really count that so this feels like my first. 

“We’ve had a lot of trophies this year with Silverstone feeling like the highlight, and that’s credit to the team for the turnaround they managed to perform.”

Norris surprises British popstar

With the conclusion of 2023, there has been a lot of hype about Spotify Wrapped among many youngsters nowadays. McLaren’s Lando Norris seems to have joined the trend too, surprising his fans with a glimpse of his Wrapped during a livestream. The surprise was completely overwhelming for the British popstar, Sam Tompkins.

During the unfolding of his most played songs, the spotlight fell on a track titled “Lose It All” by Sam Topkins. This information completely caught the singer off guard.

The British star took to social media to express his joy, exclaiming, “No way, I AM LANDO NORRIS TOP SONG OF THE YEAR ON SPOTIFY.”
