The British-Belgian driver played a pivotal role in McLaren’s dominance by delivering commendable performances in his MCL60 for the fourth position in the constructors’ championship, overcoming a challenging start. The award was mainly based on fan votes, emphasizing Norris’s popularity and the widespread recognition of his outstanding skills. Autosport readers crowned Norris as the British driver of the season, placing him ahead of fierce competitors such as Mercedes’s Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, as well as Ferrari’s Le Mans-winning talent, James Calado.
Norris stated in a pre-recorded message that “I want to say a big fan to all the fans for voting for me.”
“This has been my second time being able to accept this beautiful trophy. This first was during COVID in 2020, but I don’t really count that so this feels like my first.
“We’ve had a lot of trophies this year with Silverstone feeling like the highlight, and that’s credit to the team for the turnaround they managed to perform.”
