After pretty much an entirety of a season, McLaren were able to put the gap behind in performance as Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri clinched a double podium in Suzuka GP. It was an entertaining battle between a rookie and his experienced teammate and Oscar was even dejected about not being able to finish higher than 3rd.
Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri share a buddy like dynamic in the team and even though the young Australian is new to the team, Norris had almost no issues adjusting to him. However, in recent events Norris has issued some considerations to his team and also took a jibe at teammate Piastri.
Oscar Piastri issues warning to McLaren regarding Norris upgrades
McLaren often prefers the more experienced Lando Norris when it comes to introducing new parts or upgrades and the Australian follows suit a race later. According to the team boss, Andrea Stella, he takes into account the ‘human factor’ before deciding who gets what in their next racing quest.
Piastri on the other hand insists that the process should be fair to both drivers, with neither of them having to wait, thus fostering an equitable competition between them.
Piastri was explaining this to the media in Singapore and it seems like the new upgrades propelled him to the dream result in Japanese GP.
“Of course it would be great if we could both have it, but I completely understand why Lando gets them,” Piastri told the media in Singapore. “But in saying that, we try and keep it as fair as we can.
“At Zandvoort, I had the new rear-wing first. It is not all one-sided.”
It’s clear that Piastri indeed wants the team to let the drivers duke it out on track with equal weapons at their bay.
Lando Norris calls Oscar Piastri a snake
Lando is a cheeky guy who doesn’t shy away from having fun moments or trying to take small puns at people while having a conversation with him. In a video posted on Lando’s official YouTube channel we can find him at Franciacorta racing track for Go-Karts. From the looks of it a heated battle is in the preparation.
Lando Norris openly called Oscar Piastri a “little snake” in his video explanation because Piastri had been actively gaining experience and fine-tuning his skills through testing on various tracks. With a serious race looming between the two teammates, it appears that Piastri’s efforts to gain an edge over Lando Norris didn’t exactly please the British driver.
Oscar finally put out his raw talent for display in Japan but do you think that the change he suggested will be reflected in team decisions or is he just being absurd.
