Lakers point guard D’Angelo Russell has been the difference-maker in many recent Lakers games. Russell recently made a statement that spells danger for the competition and alerts his Western Conference rivals.
He has been a consistent starter, and head coach Darwin Ham has shown trust in his abilities. Russell has recently slammed the media as well for covering news related to his trade and ignoring his stellar performances.
D’Angelo Russell issues bold statement
The Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell has issued a bold statement amid the trade rumors surrounding the star. Russell’s statement was posted on the official X (formerly Twitter) account of Lakers Daily.
According to the post, Russell said, “The scary part is we can be better.” These words by Russell are most probably referencing the current state of the Lakers.
The Lakers have not been performing at their best on the court and have expressed doubts about even qualifying for the playoffs. Russell states that he believes the Lakers squad has more potential than they have been showing and can be more formidable on the court.
The franchise ace LeBron James had also expressed similar opinions about his team in many post-game interviews. There is no denying that the words of Russell carry some weight to them. The Lakers squad has one of the best talents in the league but they have been unable to deliver in games.
D’Angelo Russell’s performance this season
D’Angelo Russell didn’t have a great start in the 2023-24 season. He was recovering from an injury when the season started. When he made a comeback he was slowly introduced to games and was not given enough chances to show his full potential.
However, it was a necessary action taken by the head coach Darwin Ham to not stress a recently recovered player. When Ham felt that Russell was good to go, he let him loose and since then he has been a starter in most of the Lakers’ games.
D’Angelo Russell has been averaging 17.5 points, 6.3 assists, 2.8 rebounds per game this season, and has a 46.5% field goal shooting percentage. However, there have been trade rumors surrounding Russell and there is no guarantee that he would be with the Purple and Gold in the next season.
What do you think of D’Angelo Russell’s statements about his team? Do you think that D’Lo will be a part of the Lakers next season? We are eager to know your thoughts, so drop them down in the comments and let us know.
