Mercedes Mone also known as Sasha Banks has been in the news for her potential return in WWE. The wrestler walked out of the company with her then tag-team partner Naomi in May 2022. Since rumors of her return started circulating on the internet, the superstar has made a lot of cryptic posts indicating her comeback.
Mercedes Mone was recently seen with WWE wrestler Bayley in a movie premiere. The Damage CTRL leader shared her picture with her old friend on social media, which strengthened Mone’s return speculations in the company.
Mercedes Mone reunites with Bayley
Bayley, the leader of the Damage CTRL faction, attended the premiere of the new film “Self Reliance” a little while back. The movie, starring Jake Johnson, Andy Samberg, and Anna Kendrick, held its premiere in Los Angeles. WWE star Bayley walked the red carpet, where she took pictures with Jake Johnson and later shared them on her official Instagram.
Bayley said in her post, “I asked him who he thought was going to win the 2024 #RoyalRumble point emoji Thank you @mrjakejohnson for the invitation to celebrate your new movie, so happy to finally meet you in person! However, this is not the only picture she shared, among the photos one was a very familiar face to the fans, who posed alongside Bayley. It was none other than the former IWGP Women’s Champion Mercedes Mone. This is the first public photo, that was shared since Mone’s comeback rumors started.
Mercedes Moné did not share any posts on Instagram but instead, she shared a lot of stories from her official account regarding the event. WWE Universe shared their love and support for both athletes when the picture was shared.

Mercedes Mone teases WWE return
Mercedes Moné took to social media to share a post with her fans and teased them with a potential return to her former home, World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). Rumors even indicated Mone was joining Tony Khan’s AEW. Since parting ways with the company, Mercedes has made several appearances in different wrestling promotions.
She has wrestled for both New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) and World Wonder Ring Stardom, even competing for the former IWGP Women’s Championship. Recently, Mercedes Mone shared a post on Instagram featuring her attire from Royal Rumble 2022. This has sparked speculation among fans about her potential return on January 27, 2024, at the Royal Rumble.

The ‘Hall of Fame’ podcast the former World Heavyweight Champion said, “Maybe some of the issues that she was not too pleased with before are no longer a factor. There’s a lane for Sasha Banks to stash Mercedes Mone, and I’m making a prediction. I’m calling it. She’s back in 2024. In WWE, it’s a done deal in my mind.”
Fans are hoping to see the former SmackDown Women’s Champion return to WWE. As athletes like CM Punk made his comeback in Survivor Series, the WWE universe is also eagerly waiting for Mercedes Mone to make her return on Royal Rumble 2024.
