LeBron James has been “The Guy” in the NBA for over a decade now, and although he is not at the pinnacle of the best of the best anymore, he is still arguably the most lethal player who can turn a game around alone.
The year 2023 has not been very rewarding to LeBron, but he has been able to add more achievements to his already huge resume, like he has been doing for the past many years. But this year was also a bit physically tiring for the player, as he had to deal with a bunch of repeated injuries. Let’s take a look back at all the notable achievements the Lakers’ ace earned this year.
What are LeBron James’ notable achievements in 2023?
The Lakers ace LeBron James’ most prominent achievement this year was winning the inaugural In-Season Tournament with his team. The Lakers fought really hard in the newly introduced tournament that went side-by-side with the regular season. They managed to win it and become the first-ever NBA In-Season Tournament champions after beating the Indiana Pacers.
Another great achievement for Bron was becoming the player with the most career points in the NBA. James surpassed NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in November, and soon, in the match against the Utah Jazz in the same month, he became the only player in the history of the NBA to have 39,000 career points.
Another fascinating achievement James bagged was the title of becoming the only player to have scored 40 or more points against all thirty teams in the NBA. He scored 46 points against the Clippers early in 2023 to become the only player with 40 or more points against every team in the NBA. His record-breaking habit doesn’t go away even when the holiday season is on, he became the player with the most field goal attempts (regular season) by a player in his career again surpassing Kareem. He also holds the record for the most turnovers by a player surpassing Karl Malone and the Clippers star Russell Westbrook.
Along with these great achievements, Bron also broke a record that he would like to forget. As the 2023–24 season started, LeBron James lost his first game against the Denver Nuggets, which made him the player with the most season-opener losses. James will soon turn 39 years old, but the Lakers ace is showing no signs of slowing down. As 2024 approaches, it will be fascinating to see how many more records the Greatest of All Time breaks.
Allen Iverson puts Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant before LeBron James
The NBA legend Allen Iverson spoke of Bryant on Nichols’ Showtime series, Headliners, expressing his views on the greatest of all time. He blatantly put the great Michael Jordan and the Black Mamba Kobe Bryant before Lakers ace LeBron James. He reportedly said, “I have never seen nobody as competitive as him (Kobe) but Mike that’s it. People talk about the favorite player and the best players in the world, you know I say Mike and I say Kobe, and then everybody else.” The interviewer asked AI if LeBron James was after them to which the legend replied, “Definitely.”
Iverson was a monster in his playing days, and his opinion should be considered as an expert’s take on the matter. However, this GOAT debate has been raging on forever, and over the years, many icons and legends have spoken on the topic. Many have sided with MJ, while others have gone to the Mamba Camp. James also has his fair share of supporters, plus he is still playing at an age where people have already retired, he is still breaking records and carrying his team on multiple occasions. So for now, we can only wait, as only time will tell when the GOAT debate will end. However, Shaquille O’Neal recently surprised everyone by adding GSW star Stephen Curry to the GOAT debate.
