Why NBA refs ejected Giannis Antetokounmpo?
The Milwaukee Bucks managed to pull off an impressive comeback victory over the Detroit Pistons recently, which the power forward Giannis Antetokounmpo had to watch the remainder of the minutes from the locker room, after getting ejected after just 22 minutes into the game.
Giannis’ ejection came with just nine minutes in the third quarter, as the power forward took the ball coast to coast and threw down a mind-blowing one-handed dunk to put the Bucks up by 13 points lead. The referee blew the whistle stating that Giannis Antetokounmpo staring at Pistons’ center Isaiah Stewart for too, which was an offense, and as a result he was charged the second technical foul, which according to NBA rules, Giannis had to be ejected.
While the frustrated Giannis briefly sat with the fans in the front row before heading to the locker room, the Pistons took advantage and entered the fourth quarter with a 95-90 lead. Still, the presence of Damian Lillard on the court was enough for the Bucks, as he scored an impressive 34 points to hand them a narrow 120-118 win over the Detroit Pistons.
After the game, Bucks’ Coach Adrian Griffin said there is a need for him to be more outspoken with the officials, especially when teams are being physical with Giannis. Though Giannis was frustrated after getting ejected, he only posted a picture of himself and Lillard on X to celebrate the memorable victory.
