Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James recently mentioned two young players from the new generation of NBA stars whom he believes can carry the torch after he and other prominent players from his generation retire.
James, along with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant, has been among the most dominant and talked-about NBA players in the past decade. However, as they age with each passing season, it is almost time for the newer generation to carry the torch and continue the legacy.
LeBron James believes two current stars to continue NBA’s legacy
During the NBA All-Star weekend, LeBron James made an appearance and spent time answering some questions and expressing his opinions on some topics. He shut down the trade rumors connecting him and the Warriors. James was asked about the young players he believes have reached an elite level in the NBA right now, and the Lakers star quickly responded to the question.
“I will say Shai (Gilgeous-Alexander), and Ant-Man (Anthony Edwards), I feel like those guys who could continue the torch when I am done, after Steph, and KD,” said LeBron.
Bron also named Luka Doncic and Jayson Tatum along with the aforementioned players. “JT on the other side. He is not in my locker room as he is in the east. JT as well, Luka, you know those guys are amazing,” added Bron.
LeBron James address NBA retirement
LeBron James also talked about his plans regarding his retirement at the NBA All-Star weekend. He turned 39 last year in December and his growing age has brought up the question of his retirement multiple times.
Bron is currently in his 20th season and has been going strong carrying the Lakers. When asked about his retirement, he said that he would like to be a Laker until the end.
“I am a Laker. I have been happy being a Laker for the last six years, and I hope it stays that way,” said Bron. Later on, he also commented about how long he would be playing in the NBA. “I do not have any answers on how long it is, or what uniform it will be, but I hope it is with the Lakers,” said Bron.
For a long time, LeBron’s retirement has been a hot topic of debate and it continues to be so even after Bron shut them up after becoming the league’s leading scorer last year. There is no point in debating over his retirement rather fans should enjoy his plays for the time it lasts.
