The former President of the United States, Donald Trump has quite a history when it comes to having feuds with celebrities. He has thrown jabs at many people including the Lakers star and future Hall of Famer LeBron James.
However, LeBron isn’t someone who lets people throw dirt on his name without a fight. He’s a fierce warrior both on and off the court. At one point, even the great Michael Jordan supported King James in his feud with Donald Trump.
MJ backed LeBron against Trump’s divisive remarks
The feud between LeBron James and Trump is lengthy, making it challenging to keep track of who said what to whom. However, one incident, in particular, gained significant headlines and sparked discussions on social media and national television. The rift between Trump and James likely began when the former President invited Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors to the White House after their championship win in 2017.
Steph and the Warriors refused to go to the White House and Bron supported Steph’s decision. Trump did not like being rejected and held a grudge against James for supporting Curry. The grudge may have also come from the fact that James supported Clinton, who was Trump’s rival for the presidential elections. In 2018, James thrashed Trump for being “divisive” in an interview with Don Lemon.
Trump did not like that and replied to James on X (formerly Twitter) starting an internet feud. Trump posted, “LeBron James was just interviewed by the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon. He made LeBron look smart, which is not easy to do.” The great and legendary Michael Jordan spoke up in support of LeBron to the NBC news. Jordan reportedly said, “He is doing an amazing job for the community.”
James has been an active supporter of black people’s rights and has represented many issues on several occasions. He has spoken on the protection of black voters and voter suppression as well. James supporting Curry for not going to the White House may be what started it all but it proved that both parties were already at odds in their political and social viewpoints.
LeBron James’ charitable enterprises
LeBron James is one of those stars that has been very giving to the community. During his time in the Miami Heat, James started the “I Promise” project under which he opened a school in Akron, Ohio, his hometown. His family foundation, the “James Family Foundation” has invested around 20 million in the school and pays 1 million a year to cover the salaries of teachers and staff.
LeBron has also been a big supporter of the Boys and Girls Club of America. In 2010, he donated around 2.5 million to the organization and also donated the money raised from the show “The Decision” to the organization that provides after-school projects for young people. James had performed many more charitable actions such as the ones mentioned above and apart from these he also uses his status and influence to voice and help issues related to racial and social injustice in America.
