LeBron James shoulders the blame for late turnover pass to Anthony Davis in Lakers narrow defeat to Mavs

Things don’t need to go as expected all the time, especially in sports like basketball. Some days, a player makes the headlines for the right reasons, and on other days, they trend on the internet for some obvious reasons. This was the situation LeBron James found himself in during last night’s matchup.

During the LA Laker’s matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, the King, who is still trending for reaching a milestone 39k points for a player in NBA history, showed why he is a unique leader after he missed an important pass in the Lakers’ recent defeat.

LeBron James takes the blame for turnover pass

Although losing a single game may not carry significant weight in an 82-game regular season, King James took the blame for a critical error on the final possession against the Dallas Mavericks. Those who witnessed the game are aware that LeBron made a crucial mistake toward the end, resulting in a final score of 104-101 in favor of the Dallas Mavericks.

Facing a smaller defender in Kyrie Irving, King James attempted to lob a pass to Anthony Davis. Unfortunately, Davis was tightly covered by both Luka Doncic and Richaun Holmes, preventing the pass and securing the victory for the Mavs.

After the game, LeBron used an NFL analogy to express that the mistake was his. “Yeah left a little short right read, quarterback I just left it short… I didn’t lead my receiver and got picked off.”

The loss is undoubtedly disappointing for Lakers fans, considering they had an opportunity to win and were leading just moments before the final possessions. King James even had a chance to make a game-tying three-pointer but ended up missing. Things didn’t just go his way in the game against the Mavericks but he was still the best performer in the Lakers team.

LeBron James performance vs Mavs

In his 21st year in the league, King James continues to be the standout player on his team and is arguably among the top 10 players in the current NBA landscape. Following the most recent loss suffered by the Los Angeles Lakers, LeBron James took full responsibility. Despite the defeat, LeBron has maintained an elite level of play, striving to keep the Lakers in contention for a spot in the NBA playoffs.

Currently, the Lakers have a record of 9 wins and 7 losses. Their three-game winning streak was interrupted by a loss to Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving, and the Dallas Mavericks, concluding with a final score of 104-101.

Although LeBron James missed a crucial turnover pass to Anthony Davis, he remained the most outstanding performer for the Lakers on a night that ended in defeat against the Mavs. James concluded the game with 26 points, nine rebounds, and eight assists.

In the closing moments of the game, James missed a fadeaway 3-point shot at the buzzer that could have tied the game. This miss allowed Luka Doncic, who scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds, to seal the victory for the Dallas Mavericks with a 104-101 win.
