Staying positive is not merely a cliche; it is a critical factor in Formula One to achieve victories and sustain a career in this highly demanding and mentally demanding sport. Previously, the ex-famous F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton, almost lost his hopes due to the deteriorating condition of the W14.
Recently, the seven-time World Champion also expressed his dissatisfaction regarding his performance at the Brazilian Grand Prix, further questioning the car’s abilities to challenge Red Bull anymore this season in a post-race interview session.
Lewis Hamilton opens up following Brazilian GP
Earlier in an interview, when asked about the chances of Mercedes winning the Brazilian Grand Prix, Hamilton insisted the audience had zero hopes of winning due to the temperamental status of the car, W14. Similarly, he answered in the same way when questioned about the Las Vegas Grand Prix, by saying, “I don’t expect it.”
“But it could be. You never know with this car.” This response left the audience both puzzled and hopeful.

However, after finishing over a minute behind race winner Max Verstappen, Hamilton admitted that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to believe that Mercedes will find a solution to challenge Red Bull soon.
Furthermore, the British driver said, “Ultimately all I can do is try to remain optimistic,”
“Red Bull, I think, is so far away I think they’re probably going to be very clear for the next couple of years.”
Hamilton expressed distaste for W14
Lewis Hamilton has ultimately reached a breaking point with W14 following a disappointing race at the Brazilian Grand Prix. The seven-time World Champion finished in eighth place after initially driving in third place.
Due to Mercedes’ persistent tire issues, Hamilton was the first of the leading groups to make a pit stop. He even fell behind the Alpine’s driver, Pierre Gasly, putting them in the position of having the sixth-fastest car at the Interlagos Circuit.

The entire event proved to be a nightmare for the team, considering that George Russell failed to make it to the checkered flag too.
When asked about his opinion at a post-race interview session, Hamilton, with a heavy heart, said “It didn’t feel as disastrous as yesterday.”
“Yesterday I had no tires left, they were worn to zero. I feel like I drove a better race today in terms of managing the tires to the best of my ability.”
“But the car, there are moments it works and moments it doesn’t, and it’s so inconsistent through the lap. So we have to figure out what that is.”
“Then also we are slow on the straights and at least sliding the car through the corners. So one to forget but hopefully there’s lots of learning from today.”
