Lewis Hamilton faces ban from Las Vegas casinos during GP weekend amid Toto Wolff’s warning of tough test

Lewis Hamilton is a guy who enjoys racing to the same extent as the other attractions of a circuit and the city featuring a Grand Prix. One such entertaining city is Las Vegas, aka Sin City, which is the next race for the F1 entourage. Lewis Hamilton is known to party hard and he has also launched his own drink brand, keeping this in mind.

Max Verstappen’s continued dominance has put Lewis Hamilton on back foot, and he is eager to skip to 2024 just to have a better shot at the championship next year in the W15. However, team boss Toto Wolff has some strict advice for him.

Hamilton barred from casino action in Vegas ahead of GP

Gambling and casinos are one of the main attractions of Sin City, and many drivers like Carlos and Charles have expressed their open approval to take part in some games. Lewis Hamilton, too, would like to join them on their adventure but he has been banned from doing so. The GP of Las Vegas may not be as exciting for the seven-time world champion.

Lewis Hamilton has had an agonizing season in 2023 after the Mercedes car couldn’t get rid of its troubles no matter what the team did. Toto Wolff was highly disappointed from their car but he still wants to give his very best as the team prepares for race weekend. Toto Wolff is a focused man and as such, he has stopped Mercedes and it’s drivers from visiting any kind of casino or getting involved in gambling.

“As I said, I’ve never been to Las Vegas, but we’ll do our best to make sure everyone in the team stays away from the casinos,” he told the media. “I don’t gamble and I’ll make sure no one else gambles either!”

Wolff identifies significant challenge for Lewis Hamilton and team

Toto Wolff and his team have enjoyed immense dominance over the years but their recent stints have left a mark of disbelief and misery in the aura of Mercedes. They had hope in the races before the Brazilian GP almost coming close to a fight for the win; however, Mercedes dreams were shattered during the Brazilian GP and they couldn’t even qualify for the front row, stuck in the midfield throughout the race.

Toto Wolff has been agonizing over their recent failures, and he definitely wants the team to make a big leap ahead of the 2024 season. “After promising performances in the US and Mexico, we didn’t perform at our best in Brazil,” he told the Mercedes website.

“We have been hard at work to identify the wrong turn we took with the set-up; we have done that. We understand our mistakes and can explain our performance loss to the field. That’s important as we look to secure P2 in the constructors’ championship. We’ll be running at night, where ambient and track temperatures will likely be in the single digits,” he said about the Las Vegas GP. “Plus, the track layout itself is unusual with many slow corners but long straights.”

“It’s going to be a big challenge for us all and we’re looking forward to taking it on. It will also be an immense effort off-track.”

Mercedes-Benz and Lewis Hamilton are in a tight spot for P2 in the championships. While Mercedes will want to extend its lead in the championship, Lewis will look forward to snatching the P2 from Sergio Perez.
