Lewis Hamilton rules out possibility of contending for victory at Brazilian GP following disappointing seventh-place Sprint finish

As an ex-F1 Champion, Lewis Hamilton gave his best effort at every race, no matter the odds. Even after Max Verstappen dominated his entire reign, Hamilton did not give up and continued to give a heated challenge to the Dutch driver with a positive attitude, always ready for a comeback.

The British driver endured the first winless campaign of his career in 2022 but he decided not to dwell on negative thoughts and gave his best throughout that season. However, recently, Hamilton clearly stated to not have high hopes with the recent W14 to secure a victory at the Brazilian GP, considering his condition at the final sprint race.

Hamilton rules out victory chances after sprint setback

The seven-time World Champion has been severely disappointed with W14’s condition after the car started overheating after a very first start at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Due to this issue, he does not have high hopes of securing victory at the Brazilian GP, as mentioned that he felt” felt horrible” while he was seated in the car during the sprint race.

Hamilton also made a small error on the final lap of the Circuit, which caused him to go down to a lower position on the grid. The driver emphasized that not understanding the set-up of the car was one of the major reasons for his poor performance.

When asked about his performance, Hamilton replied “It was a very tough race,”

“I think we got a good start and then… balance. We tried to get the right balance with the wing, just a lot of understeer, and snap oversteer, and the rear tires just dropped off. And in the mid-sector, huge understeer.”

Hamilton prioritizes team success in Constructors’ championship

Lewis Hamilton is mainly focusing on securing second place at the Constructors’s Championship standing, with only 20 points behind Sergio Perez.

Sergio Perez has been going through major hurdles in his career this season, with both his position at the team as well as in the standing being at risk. Hamilton, on the other side, is ready to grab the second place with his outstanding pace at the Circuits, with only three rounds remaining.

When asked about his opinion on the whole scenario, at a press conference, Hamilton replied with, “It’s mostly dependent on Checo’s weekends. They have the championship-winning car. He’s just been unfortunate, I think, in some scenarios.

“I’ve lost quite a lot of points in the last two races but he lost points today. So it’s swings and roundabouts. I think coming into the weekend, having lost points last week, I didn’t think I would be in shooting range particularly but after today, yeah, we’ll just give it our best shot.

Furthermore, he added “Honestly, it’s not going to make a big difference to my life, whether I come second or third. It’s more important to get the team second in the Constructors’ and so that’s what I’m focused on. It’s a bonus if we get second in the Drivers.”
