Lionel Messi once received chilling message from gunmen following attack on wife Antonella Roccuzzo’s family shop

Lionel Messi may be one of the most popular athletes on earth, but the Argentine loves to keep a low profile, especially about his family. From his time at Barcelona to PSG and now Inter Miami, Messi has tried to keep his family out of the spotlight, leaving many to laud his efforts as a family man.

Despite his efforts, Messi is a big-name player and will always be in the spotlight. Armed burglars usually target footballers, and Messi’s family has not been exempted from these ill-fated attempts. The sad part is that his family was on the receiving end of an attack in his hometown, Rosario, Argentina.

Lionel Messi once received chilling message from gunmen after attack on family shop

Lionel Messi’s in-laws had their shop attacked by gunmen in Rosario in an event that drew global attention, with everyone fearing for the safety of Messi’s family. Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the attack, but the gunmen left a message for the World Cup winner. “Messi, we’re waiting for you. Jakvin is also a drug dealer and will not help you,” the message read.

Jakvin is the Mayor of Rosario, so this took everyone surprised as his name was mentioned in the letter left at the attacked shop for Lionel Messi. According to Sports Illustrated, the gunmen fired 14 shots, but no one was hurt in the attack on Antonella Roccuzzo’s family shop.

Shortly after the attack, the Mayor of Rosario Javkin posted on his Twitter account, saying, “We want to get all the resources against crime that Argentina has to take care of, to protect this city that gives the country and science.”

Messi and Antonella hail from Rosario, a small Argentina town near Buenos Aires. The Argentine, however, lived in Spain for most of his football career before switching to France and now the United States, where he now plays for Inter Miami.

Is Lionel Messi safe in Miami amid rising U.S. violence?

Lionel Messi has been in superb form for Inter Miami, scoring seven goals in four games in the Leagues Cup. His latest effort came against FC Dallas when the Argentine scored a brace, including a power freekick and a goal similar to the one he scored against Real Madrid in 2017.

Concerns about Messi’s safety in the United States have been raised amid rising violence and crime rates, with many advising the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner to get bodyguards immediately. However, Inter Miami will ensure the World Cup winner’s safety by offering him enough security detail.

Will Messi’s goalscoring form continue for Inter Miami? Let us know in the comments section.
