Not all players can produce magic moments in difficult matches, but Lionel Messi has made a name for himself in this exact field. The Argentine, contrary to many doubts, has been in superb form since signing for Inter Miami this summer. Lionel Messi just can’t seem to stop scoring as he secured another brace in the League Cup against FC Dallas, marking his first two goals away from home.
Messi’s brace on Sunday brings his tally to seven goals and one assist in four games for his new club. The World Cup winner could be instrumental to Inter Miami’s chances of winning any silverware this season, and he continues to reinforce that with pretty much every chance he gets.
Lionel Messi recreates classic El Clasico goal
It was obvious what Inter Miami were up to when they snapped up former Barcelona players Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba on free transfers to potentially help Messi play at his best. The Florida-based club also attempted to sign Luis Suarez from Gremio in an attempt to bolster their attack and make Messi more efficient, but the deal fell through.

Messi scored his team’s first goal against FC Dallas on Sunday, and his link-up with Jordi Alba has reminded fans of the famous El Clasico goal he scored in 2017. This goal gave football one of Lionel’s iconic celebrations. A typically introverted Messi took off his shirt and held it up in front of the rival fans in an emotion-provoking manner.

Jordi Alba and Messi linked up against FC Dallas for Inter Miami after the former received the ball from midfield, drove it forward, and laid a pass for the latter to score a goal reminiscent of that famous El Clasico moment. Only this time, Messi did not take off his shirt, but that’s probably because the Argentine has had more than enough celebratory moments in his past two games.
The former Barcelona player did a comic book character-inspired celebration in his second game for the club before pulling a Wakanda Forever celebration last week after scoring against Orlando City.
Messi powers Miami with 42 minutes per goal performance
“Are you kidding me?” Those were the commentator’s words after Lionel scored a powerful free-kick to put Inter Miami back in the game after the visitors had been trailing 4-3. That was Messi’s second free-kick goal in as many games for his new club.
The former PSG player now averages a goal in 42 minutes, with many suggesting this may be Messi’s best period in club football after a disastrous stint at PSG. The Argentine’s third brace for Inter Miami helped the team advance into the quarter-finals of the Leagues Cup.
