Everyone expected Lionel Messi to light up the MLS, and that’s exactly what the Argentine is doing. He has become the league’s biggest name, with his games now attracting A-list celebrities, pulling more attention to the MLS than any other player has ever done. Admittedly, that’s what they brought him to the league for, not just for his mind-blowing skills, and he’s done just that.
The former Barcelona star may be an introvert. Yet, he remains one of the most marketable sportspersons in the world. The MLS officials are working to make the league a global attention just as it first became when David Beckham signed for LA Galaxy in 2007 from Real Madrid.
Lionel Messi’s goal celebration goes viral, becoming an instant meme
David Beckham played a huge part in bringing Lionel Messi to Inter Miami. The former England captain, co-owner of Inter Miami, built a mural for the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner ahead of his Inter Miami unveiling earlier this month. This and other gestures received by the Argentine have made him settle easily in Florida, and he has now returned a funny gesture to David Beckham in the form of a goal celebration.
Messi got his first MLS career start alongside fellow Barcelona teammate Sergio Busquet. Messi repaid his coach’s faith by scoring two goals in the opening twenty minutes of the first half. Celebrating one of those goals, Messi did a Star Wars-inspired celebration meant for David Beckham, who was watching from the stands.

After performing his usual celebration, with both hands pointing to the sky, Messi hesitated before acting like he was offering a beer cup to David Beckham. The Inter Miami co-owner liked this gesture and couldn’t help but smile.
Crowd leaves the stadium after Lionel Messi is subbed off after scoring two goals for Inter Miami
American fans are becoming familiar with Lionel Messi’s greatness and are beginning to see it close-up. The Argentine got his first start for his new club and scored two first-half goals to help his team to a second win in two games. However, not many were interested in the game anymore after seeing Lionel Messi subbed off in the 75th minute of the game.

when asked about it, Inter Miami coach Tata Martino later responded:
“No, I didn’t notice, I would’ve preferred for them to have stayed, but with a player like Messi – it’s understandable that this happens.”
The fans love to see Messi play, and Inter Miami may be forced to play him more than expected to keep the fanfare alive.
