Manchester United has been grappling with a string of damning injuries since their pre-season tour. With stiff competition from formidable rivals, their prospects of achieving significant success this season have been further hindered by continuous injury woes.
Adding to the growing list of casualties is Lisandro Martinez, who had only recently recovered from a metatarsal fracture sustained during last season’s Europa League clash against Sevilla. Furthermore, the club’s new acquisition, Sergio Reguilon, is also unavailable for today’s match against Crystal Palace due to injury.

The Lisandro Martinez injury news is a big blow to Manchester United, a team that has already suffered more than enough injuries this season. The 25-year-old Argentine has been noticeably absent from Manchester United’s lineup in their past two matches, and unfortunately, it appears that he is set to endure an extended period on the sidelines.
Prior to this, Martinez suffered a metatarsal fracture during the Europa League match against Sevilla on April 13, which kept him out of action until the pre-season friendly against Leeds United on July 12. However, it seems that he aggravated his foot problem during the match against Arsenal on September 3. Despite the discomfort, he continued to play through the pain in subsequent matches, including the Brighton and Bayern Munich defeats.
A statement on the Manchester United Website reads, “The Argentinian defender experienced the setback in our Premier League game against Arsenal earlier this month.
“Martinez bravely continued playing for the following two games against Brighton & Hove Albion and Bayern Munich. But it has now been determined that he needs a period on the sidelines for recovery and rehabilitation. Assessment is ongoing to decide next steps.
“Everyone at Manchester United sends Lisandro our best wishes and looks forward to him coming back as soon as possible.”
Manchester United will also be missing Sergio Reguilon for their Saturday fixture against Crystal Palace in the league owing to a minor injury. The match is set to kick off at 3 p.m. In Reguilon’s absence, Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, or Jonny Evans might step in to cover for Emiliano Martinez.

Lisandro Martinez was sidelined for the last two months of the previous season, which unfortunately included missing the FA Cup final. Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag expressed his disappointment at losing Martinez for a comparable duration this season as well.
