Liverpool injury report: Reviewing the latest on Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai and more

Liverpool fans are worried right now about their club’s chances of challenging for the Premier League. Despite a great start to the season and still being at the top of the table, they are now worrying about the rest of the season, especially after a loss to title contenders Arsenal.

But that loss is not why they are worried, but it is the upcoming games they will be facing that have them concerned. The team is missing some key players through injury, with Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai’s absences a major concern.

When will Liverpool star Mohamed Salah return from injury?

The major concern for Liverpool is no doubt the absence of the best player on their team, which is Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian had already scored 14 goals, provided 8 assists this season, and played a vital role in the club’s great season so far. It seemed the winger was back to his best form and would help deliver the Reds to another title.

However, Liverpool had to deal with his absence due to him representing Egypt at AFCON 2023. But things went bad from there when the winger injured himself while playing for his country. He returned to his club for tests and it was confirmed that he had torn his hamstring.

While it was thought to be a serious injury at the time, it seems he is recovering well. Mohamed Salah is now in Liverpool doing his best to recover, posting pictures of him in the club’s gym. This shows that he is already quite close to full recovery, a sign of relief for fans.

He is working hard to return to the pitch, and there is a great chance he could make his return against Burnley in the next game. A safer option would be the next game against Brentford which is more likely.

Dominik Szoboszlai recovery timeline

Perhaps it is bad luck for the Reds that Dominik Szoboszlai has gotten injured again. The Hungarian midfielder has been holding the midfield for Klopp’s team and had gotten back from a month long injury against Chelsea.

However, he got injured again with a hamstring issue, and it is being estimated that he could be out for 3 to 4 weeks. He will miss a lot of important games, including the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea. This means we could see him back on the pitch in March at his best. The earliest we could see him is against Manchester City on March 10.

Other than these two crucial players, Liverpool are also missing Kostas Tsimikas, who is expected to feature in the next matches. Stefan Bajcetic is also expected to return from injury this month, while Ben Doak may take even longer to come back. Defender Joel Matip is confirmed to miss the rest of the season. Liverpool will not worry about the absence of these players too much, compared to the loss of Salah and Szoboszlai.

Liverpool will now face Burnley in the league on Saturday, as they continue to challenge for the Premier League title this season.
