Liverpool reportedly identify Mohamed Salah replacement amid Saudi links

Liverpool fans are not at all happy about next season, as they will be missing many of their legends. With manager Jurgen Klopp already confirmed to leave at the end of this season, stars like Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Virgil Van Dijk among others are rumored to be exiting.

It is expected that the departure of the German manager will cause a domino effect on the club’s dressing room, and cause a lot of players to move on. Amidst all the rumors, one player’s replacement is already being lined up by the club.

Liverpool eyeing replacement for Mohamed Salah

According to a report from SportBild, Liverpool are preparing for the departure of Mohamed Salah and have identified an ideal replacement. In fact, they are interested in one of Salah’s Egyptian international teammates, Omar Marmoush. With interest from many clubs in Saudi Arabia for Salah, this is considered an important investment.

Marmoush is one of the most exciting talents from Egypt and Africa as well, currently playing for Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. He has a similar profile to Salah and has experience playing in all three positions up front. The Egyptian is having a brilliant season for his club, scoring 15 goals and providing 6 assists so far.

Omar has experience playing with Salah as well in the Egyptian national team, with the former being his partner in attack and captain as well. With 5 goals in 29 caps so far, it is safe to say he has learned directly from the Reds legend.

This association with Salah could also help convince him to move to Anfield. Clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle have already scouted him, and it is expected a fee around €50 to 60 million will be required for Frankfurt to let him leave. Another name being mentioned is PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko, but for now Omar is preferred over him.

Mohamed Salah reportedly made decision regarding his Liverpool future

Mohamed Salah has been linked with an exit for quite some time now. In the summer transfer window of 2023, Saudi Pro League clubs wanted him but the Reds rejected a ÂŁ150m offer from Al Ittihad. With his contract ending in 2025, and manager Jurgen Klopp leaving, it is expected for the Saudi clubs to try again.

But the player himself has no intention to move yet. Reports from England suggest the Egyptian wants to fulfill his contract there, and no hints of an exit have been made yet. But the same cannot be said for the club, who recognize that the player’s contract will end soon and a big fee for him could facilitate his exit sooner.

For now, Mohamed Salah and Liverpool will focus on their next game in the Premier League on Friday against Sheffield United.
