Liverpool are in dire need of another midfield signing despite the recent arrival of Wataru Endo from Stuttgart. Manager Jurgen Klopp has lost several first-team midfielders this summer, leaving him to restock in that position to compete in the new season. The likes of Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Oxlade-Chamberlain have all been moved away from the club.
The arrival of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai from Brighton and RB Leipzig, respectively, has shaped up the club’s midfield, but Klopp knows he needs more reinforcements in the area if the team wants to compete for trophies this season.
Liverpool’s $30 million bid for Andre rejected by Fluminense
Liverpool’s pursuits of midfielders to replace the ones they’ve lost to other clubs have hit a significant snag. Liverpool identified Romeo Lavia as their replacement for Fabinho, and after months of negotiations with Southampton, the young Belgian chose Chelsea over the Reds. Liverpool couldn’t meet the Saints’ $55 million valuation of the young midfielder, leaving Chelsea with enough time to hijack the deal and snap up the former Manchester City player.
Liverpool also missed out on Moises Caicedo as the Ecuadorian midfielder chose a move to Chelsea over playing under Jurgen Klopp, signalling a change in power in the Premier League as Klopp’s Liverpool used to be famous for signing some of the world’s best players. The Reds were forced to settle for a less famous signing of Wataru Endo from Stuttgart, with a move for the Japanese captain sending a shockwave to the club’s fanbase.

According to new reports, the Reds are closing in on the signing of Fluminense as they look to trigger the Brazilian’s €40 million release clause after seeing their initial €30 million bid rejected by the club. Fluminense want Andre to stay till the end of the season in Brazil, which is December, and move to England by January, something Liverpool do not want. Liverpool want to sign the Brazilian before the end of this current transfer window and are looking to trigger his release clause to make that possible.
Andre is ready to move from Fluminense after the Brazilian league ends
The calendar of South American leagues differs from the regular European seasons, which could be a major factor behind Andre’s decision to leave Fluminense. Reports suggest that Fluminense are reluctant to let the Brazilian leave this month unless Liverpool manage to trigger the midfielder’s €40 million release clause, which will grant the Reds their wish of signing the Brazilian after agreeing to personal terms with him.
Liverpool can’t afford to miss out on Andre after being rejected by Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo earlier this month. Despite signing Wataru Endo from Stuttgart, Liverpool need another midfielder to form the much-needed squad depth to compete on all fronts this season.
