Logan Paul once refused to do famous pose with Diamond Dallas Page over legal fears

Wrestling fans are getting ready for the next major event after the Elimination Chamber concluded last night. Even though the Steel Cage battle was exciting, Logan Paul’s supporters were sad since he lost. Interestingly, there’s a buzz around a past incident where Paul declined to take a photo with WCW legend Diamond Dallas Page using a unique gesture.

This shocking information was shared by DDP on a podcast a few years ago, and it has fans wondering why Paul turned down the chance to pose for a picture with a wrestling legend.

Logan Paul once denied posing with Diamond Dallas Page’s hand gesture

Like the Stone Cold Stunner became famous in WWE bouts, Diamond Dallas Page’s Diamond Cutter became famous in the late 1990s as a finishing move for significant WCW stars. His beloved diamond hand gesture became an iconic part of his wrestling character and is still used for fan photographs today. But there was an unusual event involving Diamond Dallas Page and Logan Paul.

At WrestleMania 38, Page—now a Hall of Famer—asked Logan Paul for a picture, which he recounted on his DDP Snake Pit podcast. Although Paul was willing to snap the shot, he was hesitant to strike the Diamond Cutter pose for fear it looked like a gang symbol. DDP said, “He shook my hand and I said, ‘Let’s do a picture.’ I said, ‘Let’s do the diamond cutter (hand sign)’, and he said, ‘No, I don’t do that.’…We have a humongous audience. But he wouldn’t do anything because, a gang sign, and he’s been sued over it before.”

While this news made headlines in 2022, Page went on to reveal that Paul had indeed confessed at WrestleMania 39. Page recounted the incident from 2023 on another Insight episode with Chris Van Vliet, reflecting on their meeting at the time.

DDP sued Jay Z over the hand sign

The “Diamond Cutter” hand symbol is owned by professional wrestler Diamond Dallas Page, who sued Roc-A-Fella Records and rapper Jay-Z for allegedly ripping off his trademark in 2005. Page often used this diamond-shaped gesture to energize audiences. The lawsuit said that both Kanye West and Jay-Z, who are both signed to Roc-A-Fella, used similar actions like “Diamond Cutter” in their respective music videos for “Encore” and “Diamonds,” respectively.

Although Page had trademarked the sign before Jay-Z did, the two parties agreed to settle without going to court. On the other hand, Jay-Z subsequently made an effort to trademark the sign himself and was successful in doing so; nonetheless, the symbol is distinct from the standard Diamond Cutter.

Oh, hi, this is Md Robin Ahmed, a WWE fan and I everyday go through a slew of popular WWE stories on Sportszion. Watching Big Show's Showstopper was the beginning of my passion for WWE, though I have to say that his Chokeslam is not one of my favorite moves. Over time, my love for professional wrestling has intensified, mostly due to the Shield, and my all-time favorite wrestler in WWE is Big Dog. I would give everything to be able to be within a few feet of him to witness his iconic Superman Punch and Spear. My major is engineering, but I'm most happy when I'm doing something artistic that doesn't put me under any pressure. Watching them wrestle and discuss their matches is always fun for me. And I've finally discovered a career that gives me fun since it allows me to with my dream heroes lifestyle. So, Welcome! I'd love to hear from you on LinkedIn and Facebook.
