Apart from his reputation as one of the league’s best sixth men, Lou Williams is also known for his very strong stances and candid opinions which he is not hesitant to share in the slightest.
Recently, the former NBA superstar shared his brutal opinion on presidential candidate Donald Trump’s latest sneaker, which was released to commemorate Trump’s campaign for the elections.
Lou Williams not impressed with Donald Trump’s sneaker brand
It is safe to say that Lou Williams is not a fan of presidential candidate Donald Trump’s latest $399 sneakers, which are named “Never Surrender.” While the gold high tops are beyond flashy, the shoes weren’t a big hit as fans questioned the intention of the release.
The former Clippers star also shared a similar opinion and felt like Trump’s intentions did not align with the needs of the people, considering the sneaker release was part of Trump’s campaign agenda. Paparazzi site TMZ spoke to the player to gather his thoughts on the topic.
When questioned about the sneakers, Williams said, “If that’s your intention, I think you’re in the wrong place and I think you’re a little misled on thinking how intelligent we are to see this coming a mile away,” He also wasn’t keen on the shoes as he suggested, “They’re not even dope. Not really collectibles. Obviously, some guys are gonna do it when you got the Hypebeasts.”
Williams continued to share his insightful perspective on the issue, saying, “We talking about sneakers opposed to the direction that our country is gonna live in and where our kids and how our children are gonna grow up in this world and the leadership that follows that.”
Lou Williams revealed Kobe Bryant’s shoe seizing order
Many fans often forget that superstar Lou Williams played for the Los Angeles Lakers alongside one of basketball’s finest players, the late Kobe Bryant. As a player and a leader, Kobe had a reputation for being a strict mentor, using aggressive principles to inculcate discipline amongst his younger teammates, such as D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Nick Young.
The antics of the young players on the Lakers very often tested Kobe’s temperament, and the superstar did not hesitate to enforce harsh principles on his teammates. Speaking Shaq, Lou Williams recalled a specific incident that has been poised in the star’s head forever.
Narrating the incident, Williams said, “When I played with him, he got upset, and he said, ‘From now on out, I touch the ball every time down the court. Y’all going to learn what it’s like to play with Kobe Bean fu***** Bryant.’ We got blown out in Portland. He went down the line, one at a time, and told everybody what the fu** was wrong with them. He went down the line. He skipped me, Metta World-Peace, and Brandon Bass. Everybody else got it.”
However, Kobe’s fanaticism did not end there. The superstar decided to teach the team’s youngsters by confiscating Kobe’s signature sneakers. Williams added on, saying, “And we came in the next day for practice; I don’t know if Carlos was the equipment manager for y’all. I don’t know how long he was there. Carlos came in, cool as ever, and he just started racking Kobe’s out of the fu***** lockers. So me and Nick Young sitting like: ‘What you doing?’ ‘Kobe said he doesn’t want y’all wearing his shoes, y’all fu**** soft.”
The incident brought utter joy to Shaq and Lou Williams, but it also highlighted Kobe’s dedication to winning and discipline, even in the final years of his career.
