Lyra Valkyria takes over as WWE NXT women’s champion following Becky Lynch’s exit

Lyra Valkyria shocked the WWE Universe when she defeated Becky Lynch this week at WWE NXT Halloween Havoc to become the new NXT Women’s Champion. Following her defeat, Big Time Becks congratulated and praised her mentee on social media and also seemingly confirmed the end of her run at WWE’s developmental brand.

Becky Lynch arrived on the black and gold brand NXT last month to challenge NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton for her title. She won the championship, completing her Grand Slam, and during her title reign, Lynch also helped shine a spotlight on several stars, including Stratton, Tegan Nox, and most recently, Lyra Valkyria.

WWE NXT witnessed Becky Lynch’s exit

The WWE Universe was taken by surprise when Becky Lynch announced that she would be challenging Tiffany Stratton for the NXT Women’s Championship. She ended up winning the title and defending it on several occasions, on both NXT and RAW. Her last title defense came against Lyra Valkyria at NXT Halloween Havoc this week, which ended Lynch’s 42-day title reign.

The two women put on a fantastic match, which was the first time that Becky Lynch went up against her mentee, Lyra Valkyria. Valkyria seemed more than prepared to take on her mentor and won the match at the end after reversing the Manhandle Slam into a rollup to get the 3-count. Following her loss, Lynch raised her opponent’s hand as a sign of respect and passing the torch to her. She later reflected on her loss on social media, where she praised the young talent of NXT and said that her time with the black and gold brand has come to an end.

The NXT era has come to an end. I am immensely proud of my run as NXT women’s champion. From getting to step into the ring with some of the finest up and comers to open challenges on Raw and being a catalyst for highlighting the wealth of hungry talent we have on our roster, @real_valkyria is the real deal and will be a star for years to come. The future is in good hands”, said Becky Lynch on Instagram.

Baron Corbin reveals death threats after attack on Lynch

Back in 2019, the real-life couple of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch were involved in a heated rivalry against the duo of Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans. At Extreme Rules 2019, Rollins and Lynch took on Corbin and Evans in a mixed tag team match to settle their differences. Although the match was entertaining from beginning to end, there was a controversial moment at the end of the match.

In the final moments of the match, Baron Corbin delivered a devastating End of Days to Becky Lynch, incapacitating her for the remainder of the contest. An enraged Seth Rollins swiftly defeated Corbin and emerged victorious. Shockingly, some individuals reacted extremely negatively to the attack on Becky Lynch, sending death threats to The Lone Wolf for his actions.

In an interview with Chris Van Vliet, Baron Corbin talked about how the whole attacking Becky thing was Vince McMahon’s idea, to which even he was surprised upon learning it. He also revealed the amount of hate he got afterwards from fans.

“And that was Vince’s idea. I was shocked when I got to the building. And it was in Philly, which I knew they were gonna go nuts for. That was Vince’s idea. And it was just like, what? Like, it’s crazy. And like the death threats after were all worth it. Totally worth it. Oh, dude, you have no idea”, said Corbin. “My Instagram messages and Twitter and all of those things. People were like, dude, I’m gonna stab you the next time I see you for what you did to Becky. I mean, if I get stabbed? Yeah, if I get stabbed? Yeah, definitely arrest that guy.”

Although it’s in the past now, it’s surprising sometimes to see the extent to which fans sometimes go for their favorite superstars. As of now, Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch continue to dominate the WWE landscape and are two of their biggest stars. Stay tuned for further updates on the couple of The Visionary and The Man of WWE.
