Soccer will always have some drama running, with the latest issue between Jesse Lingard and a legend of the sport. The English midfielder has been having a hard time lately, being without a club for a very long time now. He last played for Premier League Nottingham Forest and had his contract terminated at the end of last season, with his last game in April of last year.
Since then, he has struggled to find any club willing to take him on; he was briefly rumored to join Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami and the Saudi Pro League. And while he is looking for a club, he is enjoying the time off, though someone did not like his carefree attitude.
Jesse Lingard draws Paul Scholes fury
Jesse Lingard is still a free agent, and he is spending his free time training to make sure he is in top condition. He is working hard in the gym as well, and he regularly posts pictures of it on his social media platforms. He is in Dubai right now, where he is training in a top-level gym. In the pictures, Lingard is seen doing some pull-ups and even wearing some compression boots.
However, despite his best efforts to get back to soccer soon, one Manchester United legend did not like his carefree attitude about not getting to a club soon. It was Paul Scholes who actually commented on the Instagram post and said, “Are you just gonna f*** about in the gym or are you gonna actually play football?” It seems the United legend is not happy seeing such a player wasting his days away. The comment has since been deleted at the time of writing.

Previously playing for Manchester United from his academy graduate days, Lingard left them on a free transfer in 2022, joining Nottingham Forest, who terminated his contract after a year. His career has seen him take a non-professional attitude several times, and Jadon Sancho was once criticized for hanging out with him.
Lingard reputedly offers himself to Barcelona
Jesse Lingard is, however, trying his best to find a club. He has reportedly offered himself to La Liga giants Barcelona. He is now seen as a very cheap and good option for the Catalans, given their financial situation. However, the club has expressed no interest in the player yet.

Spanish outlet Sport revealed that Lingard would only ask for £1.7 million in wages, which would be well within Barcelona’s FFP guidelines. Many other clubs, such as Inter Miami, Saudi clubs, and Ligue 1 side Lille, are all interested in him. Premier League club Everton has also expressed interest in signing him.
It remains to be seen which club actually signs him, but for now, Jesse Lingard only has to keep on training.
